Sorry bout the title, just thought it might draw some attention. Finally got to go out and play with my Bowens lights that I got last october, hadn´t gotten the chance yet to try out the battery pack that came with it. Kindof liked these shots. Not too much editing going on, just did a little desat, increased contrast a lot and that´s pretty much it. Any thoughts, wether they be good or bad? I actually liked one of them enough that I thought about entering it in the current free study but I was very happy with the one I did enter so I let it be.

Bring it on, would love to get some feedback, don´t be afraid, I got tough skin! :D

i like the portraits themselves (actually, the first one more than others), but somehow the background does not work for me. there is just too big a contrast between the model and the background, both in color and lighting, feels more like an artificial (photographic?) studio backdrop, or (worse) photoshopped superimposition. Just my opinion, of course...

My thoughts exactly.

The lighting on the guy is good by itself but in combination with the very dark natural setting it looks a bit faked.

my exact thoughts too! the lighting on the man is quite good, but the background just doesn't fit.

Same opinion as the others. The lighting on the model makes the background look like a backdrop, big time.

Thanx for all the comments and input :) Marked all of them helpful as they were and I would mark all of your inputs in this thread as helpful if I could.

I completely agree with you that the shots look artificial as if they were taken in a studio with a big print as a backround. I actually do like them that way though, I tried lightening the backround but I just didn´t think it looked as cool and dramatic and this was pretty much the look I was going for, still not 100% happy with these shots as there is something missing but I am going to go at this some more and do another photoshoot and explore this some more, I´ll post the results here if anybody is interested.

I suspect that these are shots that wouldn´t do well in challenges as people would probably think that they were "fake", I think that these are shots are not "DPC friendly", what do you think :)

I still haven´t gotten a comment on Oli Geir II, anybody care to be the first to give me some input on that shot? I´ll be glad to exchange comments if anybody want´s my opinion on their shot, just post a link to the image here and I´ll look at it. Thanx in advance :D

You set up your Bowens lighting on a stormy beach like that? I would be too scared the lights would blow over, it looks purdy windy there!

Left you some comments. I agree that they're probably not too DPC-friendly because of the background (although I'll probably get linched for being so negative-lol). Very cool shots and wonderful lighting on the model.
