At the moment I am SO bummed. I was really satisfied with my 'Blue' entry (even my kids, my biggest critics, thought it was 'wicked'). Started out OK around 6.5, but now, 70-odd votes in, it's 6.0 and falling. Maybe I should give up on photography and concentrate more on my sports..... LOL.

There seems to be a bit of a trend - the opening night voters are pretty generous. Then you hit the "slump" where some of the more, shall we say "discriminating" voters kick in and scores start dropping. As the week continues, scores will move up, down, up, down, but by ever smaller increments. On the day before the challenge closes, scores will start to creep up a bit, and somehow a bit of magic occurs at rollover and the final score is higher than when you saw it just before the challenge ended.
So sayeth the woman who just watched her first challenge as an update-button-enabled viewer. :-)

meanwhile, my Free Study entry, which I liked better, is at 5.5!
I don't know if I've ever had such a high score after so many votes AND no comments. Weird. |

There are no dumb questions!!
There is a formula to figure it all out. But some of us geeks have an excel sheet to track votes. If you want to pm me with your email addy, Ill send it to you. |

Rae-Ann - you're a geek? I'm so pleased. :-) It's always nice to have company. (Warning - geekiness follows...) Heck, I even built my own computer. It has the most lovely memory in it - really very pretty. I should take a picture for my portfolio...
But I don't have the "check your score" spreadsheet. I can't keep track while at work anyway, and as you've probably learned, that "update" button only causes scores to go down. This, as I understand, is a phenomenon still under investigation.... |

It was all going well with 6 then it keeps on dropping with one person giving me 1 point for miss spelling!!! It makes me feel like giving up.

Hi,
I'm new to this site, I didn't enter a challenge yet and I voted for the first time in the Blue challenge.. I found it very difficult, the images are so varied, from some less skilled but showing imagination and "good eye" to really technically skilled shots on tired subjects and of course combinations of the two... the common nature snapshots were the easiest for me to rule out but the rest made me dizzy :) (I voted on all)
I wanted to enter the challenge but failed to come up with the right blue ideea so I really admired the images that expressed the contest title (as opposed of just taking a good photo of any blue object).
I really love the idea of this site and hope I will manage to shoot something for the next contest. I won't mind getting low grades, this looks like a great place to learn stuff and have fun :) |

Well I just got my first comment that actually helps me understand why I have a 4.7. They think I need more blue, especially on my subject.
Okay... I had that thought, it's good to have it confirmed. |
