Well, Hey...
My camera was just stolen last night, along with my lenses and equipment (digital rebel)... broke into my car, took the stuff from my trunk. So, my post in BlueII will be the last for a while, though im not sure any will really miss my photography...Though I would like to think so
= ). Well, just had to rant...In reality, its only material goods and isnt the most important thing in life. Take some amazing pics for me will ya!

Man, that's craptacular. Does your car insurance policy cover the equipment since it was in the car?

Do you have insurance? Especially since it was in the car?

I'm really sorry to hear this. Hope you find a new camera soon!

Joshua,

Check to see if your homeowners insurance will cover it - if you have homeowners insurance. Mine does, but you have to pay the deductible. I got a seperate policy for my camera equipment and laptop - so no deductible now.

Sorry to hear of your bad luck. Hope we will see you back shooting soon.

Sorry to hear that. I know how you feel I have been robbed before. Damn thiefs, kill them all!

OMG! That's horrible! I hope you can find away to replace your camera.

If you can, look up Glenn's Fair Price on the internet. It's here in Harrisonburg, but Gary's really good about working out deals with people. Like if you have some decent film camera stuff to trade in... I traded my Nikon N-80 to help pay for my camera. He gave me a good trade.

Please tell me that you had a Personal Articles policy on the camera, or at least that you have homeowners or renters insurance?

If you do, you should be able to recover most of your losses.

Sorry that happened to you. :(

I didn't even report mine -- I think the increased premiums I'd end up paying would be way more than my camera was worth : (

Car insurance will not cover contents (at least in the US). Contents are covered by homeowners/renters insurance, unless you are carrying (as I do) a separate policy on the camera equipment.

That sucks. I always keep my camera at my side...I don't know what I'm going to do when I go to Florida this year -- I'd almost feel like I was abandoning it leaving it unprotected in a hotel room.

Sucky.

Well, maybe even if you don't get another camera for a while you'll start it back up later on.
I'd be kinda upset if my cameras got stolen, having no form of insurance on them other than what my parents might have for homeowners insurance, and I don't know if that counts since I made all the money to buy the stuff with..

Most insurance does not go up for comp claims like theft, broken windows etc. In fact many states have laws that only allows rates to increase if found at fault. The insurance compnay may not like all the claims but they are playing poker just like playewrs in Vegas, sometimes the win and sometimes they lose .... nahhhh they always win.

That's a bummer. I too hope you had insurance. My home contents policy includes a certain amount of coverage for items away from home, but I got all the big-ticket camera items listed on there specifically because they'd exceed the allowance. Costs me an extra couple of hundred a year, but it's worth it I think.

A few years ago most of my equipment was stolen (someone broke into my apartment). It was frustrating, particularly because I couldn't shoot for six weeks, but because my insurer had a "new for old" policy, it meant I got "free" upgrades on things that were no longer being produced (e.g. high-speed flash instead of basic one) - plus I had the opportunity to upgrade some items and only pay the difference (e.g. change to a larger bag, upgrade a body). So it turned out to be a blessing in disguise.

Left me convinced that insurance is worthwhile.
