Any fans of piano music out there?

I'm looking for some good stuff...new...old...whatever. I downloaded some Chopin and Mozart...

I also downloaded a piano cover of "Kiss from a rose" by seal...it's really rad. Oh...and I got some of the piano music from The Corpse Bride and Talented Mr. Ripley. I really like the stuff that comes from movie soundtracks...so if anyone knows of any cool ones let me know, I'd appreciate it.

I'm on a mission to stray away from my typical punk/screamo/hardcore music...and widen my musical tastes:P

Ditto!

And my personal favorite piano music of the above is Cristofori's Dream, by David Lanz.

not strictly piano, but classically trained Rick Wakeman is probably one of the best keyboard players on the planet. Hasn't put out an album in quite a while now. Don't know what he's doing.

Probably know of the mega-group YES. He was the keyboardist. Put out at list 6 of his own albums.

Do you like jazz? Piano trios, duets and quintets (drums, keyboards, bass, etc.) have some legendary talents. Dave Brubeck, Oscar Peterson, etc. Smooth, classic jazz. Gotta love it.

Get the soundtrack to the movie "Somewhere in Time." You won't be disappointed if you truly love beautiful piano music. :)

You know, every time I see that movie the "water works" turn on. I can't even listen to the music without tearing up. (what a baby, huh?) Anyway, yes, I agree. Absolutely beautiful.

I used to be a huge J.S. Bach fan. The two-part inventions are fun, as are some of the preludes and fugues in The Tell-Tempered Clavier .

If you're talking about the piano in jazz Bill Evans is the man. McCoy Tyner is the only one who comes close to him. And his disciples include Herbie Hancock, Chick Corea, and Keith Jarrett.

If you like jazz, Brad Meldau is great. He has solos plus with his trio. But you can't beat Oscar Peterson for some of the best jazz piano ever. Ellis Marsalis also plays great jazz piano, many times with his famous sons, Winston and Branford.

One of the best solo piano performers with a wide variety of styles is Danny Wright. I put one of his Christmas albums in my CD alarm clock in early December and I like it so much that it is still in there waking me up every morning! Someone also mentioned Suzanne Ciani she is excellent, and also George Winston.

2nding George Winston as the best pianist ever.

2nding Jim Brickman as a good pianist.

1sting Dax Johnson and unfortuately using the word was, when I say, he was a genius.

Also anything by Joe Hisaishi and anything by Nobuo Uematsu (Final Fantasy Piano collections).

Boogie Woogie:
Albert Ammons, Mead Lux Lewis, Pine Top Perkins, and another Pine Top, Smith.

I have been trying, unsuccessfully, the get my daughter to attemp to learn some blues, Ray Charles is probably the best to start off with. But I guess she's more interested in learning little kid and more modern popular songs.
