oeh, start of new season? or part 10 of season 2?

(by the way, I love Lost... can't wait to see the rest of the series!)

I saw it...never miss an episode. Glad to get some background on Mr. Eko. Still don't get the thing in the jungle though. My roomie thinks it is some kind of nanotechnology gone wild.

Oh yea I watch 'em all.

My theory is they are all dead and in purgatory until they come to terms with the regrets and wrong doings in their life. Hence the children (who are "innocent" are taken because as the one "other" put it "the children have done nothing wrong".

Boone and Shanon came to terms with their past and now they are off the show.

Things that make you go hmmmm...

Hmmm that's a theory I didn't think of yet. But I am not at all figuring out what's the big deal while viewing, just enjoying... I think it's the best series I've ever seen.

My brother had this exact theory. I don't agree though...

anybody notice the smoke, and faces in the smoke. Reading other threads people have tivo'ed the show and then have watched in slow motion and said there was faces in the smoke that showed Mr. Eko's past. Fans are saying that the smoke shows your past or maybe future. I did not noticed it.

some people even think the theory of the show is nanobots technology.

Bloody Hell! Can an admin put a spoiler alert on this thread for UK viewers?

I didn't see a face...I'll TiVo it this weekend.

Interesting theory. not sure what I think yet However I don't think it is just 'wrong doings'....unless paranormal is 'wrong doings' too. Walt hasn't done something BAD, but he does possess paranormal and he was TAKEN.

So was Mr. Eko, simply doing bad things and now has been forgiven OR was doing bad things as it was a way to do good?

I thought a little more about "doing bad things" last night and I actually don't think it's so much that they have things they need to atone for as it is they all have stuff they can't let go of.

Kind of like the movie Jacob's Ladder

I thought the black smoke was more representative of death. Mr. Eko has no fear of death because of his past and present state of atonement for his sins. Because of his lack of fear, death did not take him.

Or he could truly "have no soul" as was stated in his flashbacks. Who knows... I HATE that show and can't wait to see what happens next week.

i don think that smoke originated from eko's brother's plane... remember the french chick.. she's been there for 30 years... and apparently witnessed the same smoke monster...i think the smoke thing shows people what they're afraid of... and since eko fears nothing... it draw a blank staring him in the face... also no eko does have a soul... i hate that show i really do.. i can't stop watching it and everytime i do.. i get disappointed on all the unrevelling of the crap they keep throwin... we still know nothing..

I like this idea because Locke can face the smoke as well and always survives. He seems unafraid of death as well.

Problem is, it has the same writers as 'Alias'

Hence it'll probably suffer the same, rambling, incoherent fate.

Great ideas, great teasers, no actual plan or fleshed out story and just a tepid, long, drawn out wind down.

Hope not, but interviews with the writers have already said they don't know what's going on either.

I think Ecko feels he "died" the day he took the gun from his brothers hands. He sacrificed himself that day for his brother...

A friend pointed that observation out to us - even pointed out a person's blog (maybe I can even find some stills posted on the net somewhere of this) about scenes from Mr. Eko's past flashing in the black fog/creature.

My guess it is a mix of nanobots and sentinent life combined - the creature displays the common predator behavior of attacking/killing those who show fear by running away. Locke and Eko did not run, the stood and faced it. Locke did run later another episode and he was attacked and almost dragged down a hole. Predator behavior typically does not attack those whom stand up or face off with them - they will back off. Now it could be that those that face up to this creature are then 'scanned' to see what the individual is made up of (how and why they are who they are) and then the creature retreats. Question is: if they are 'scanned' what value is that to the creature and why?

Also, just what was "Walt" (if that is Walt) telling his father Michael what to do on the computer?
Michael asked "Where are you"
and the last thing we saw 'Walt' type was "You need to con."

Con What!?!?! Connect, Contact, construct???? Gak! I gues next week will show us what the instruction might have meant.

i was pretty sure the last word was "come", as in "you need to come _get me over here_"

i also think the smoke reacts to fear, but that doesn't speak much to why it left charlie alone... what? smoke can't see him up in the tree?
