WOW! What an interesting thread!

Me? I have done many things from a receptionist, hostess, phone room supervisor, customer service rep., pet store manager but these days I'm a Mom first, then a small business owner that includes pet sitting, errand running, photography and just about anything else you can think of. I also volunteer for Junior Achievement and do charity work on line for a group called Pet Lovers when needed.

Right now I live in western Montana, but because they've closed a school or two in Missoula every job around here gets around 50 applicants. I also lived and substitute taught in the suburbs of Chicago. I thought about trying to get a job in the city, but to work in the schools there you have to live within the city limits. So, to be honest, I'm really not sure where I'd like to work. I was just venting ;) lol

Rhode Island was offering good sign-on bonuses for teachers in the past few years. There were actually public service announcements aimed at college grads who didn't go to school for education to entice them to the profession. It's a great place to live. My kids have been homeschooled most of their lives, LOL!. My eldest went to public school the longest before homeschooling for four years. She just finished her first year at a private Essential school in Providence,

....full time dreamer....
....a hairdresser or two.....or two hairdressers....
....a haberdasher....
....cheesemaker....

Let's see... I'm the queen of pop culture references, an at-home mom to three teenagers, an occasional eBay seller, an occasional saleperson at the small stereo store my husband manages.....

The longest job I ever held was at a small bookstore in my neighborhood -- I worked there for 7 years on-and-off. I just found out they are going out of business after decades.

I've done gardening for the stereo store and briefly worked with a kind of crazy woman running errands and helping her with her garden design business

I've considered many career options but can never get excited long enough about any to actually pursue the necessary training and/or education. My dream is to run a small subsistance farm but agricultural land is very expensive and scarce in Rhode Island and we aren't prepared to move elsewhere.

When my husband and I are ready to buy a house we plan to also buy a truck and start a part-time hauling business cleaning out people's houses, attics, garages, etc. This is probably my husband's dream job next to being a rock star.

My husband basically supports me financially through his job at the stereo store, and gigs as a working musician (he is in a Beatle cover band among other projects). He also sells stuff on eBay and is a lot more diligent about it then I.

I've seriously considered partnering with my husband writing sketch comedy but I have no idea how to go about it....

I have two degrees in Civil & Environmental Engineering which allows me to be the Director of Environmental Services for a county in upstate New York. With my PE, I oversee all operations related to three significant wastewater treatment plants, and 200 miles worth of sewers and many pumping stations. I also am responsible for the county's solid waste operations including the landfill, transfer stations and the materials recycling program. In my spare time, I own and manage a 30+ horse boarding and lesson facility, at which I teach horsemanship lessons and train horses. I also serve as an acolyte at my church and play the Hammond B3 organ. My interest in digital cameras developed as an EXCELLENT working tool to assist my riding lesson program. A picture is worth a thousand words. I struggled to find a camera that would catch horse action shots, clearly INDOORS in a large indoor arena...and be able to snap the photo at the EXACT correct moment that a horse went over a jump. Easy to do with traditional cameras... more of a challenge with the digitals. And now.... as if I have time.... Neuferland got me hooked on dpchallenge. Oh well. Oh yeah - got a great husband, one dog, four cats, and 32 horses to take care of too.

I'm an administrative assistant (and certified Public Housing Manager) in a low-income housing complex for senior citizens in the Great White North. I'm not a city employee, nor a state employee, nor a federal employee, but I'm considered to be a government employee. Yes, sometimes it confuses me too.

I'm also a member of the board that oversees our county's Retired Senior Volunteer Program.

When I'm not doing a multitude of tasks for our elderly residents, I'm at home trying to keep track of three energetic boys (ranging in age from 7 to 13) and our most recent addition...a shelter dog who has us all totally wrapped his tail.

Guilty as charged and she's not kidding about any of this. I often wonder just where she gets her energy from.
