Member Challenge, Advanced Editing.
Drop your fear of candids this week and single-out a person in a crowd as your source of composition.
Use minimal depth-of-field to your advantage to help isolate your subject, and as always, be creative.

Great idea Brad

Sounds cool Brad. It would maybe get people out, and out of their comfort zone, trying something new, and a good technique to work on. I like it :-)

Its cold outside, will strangers come to my house please?

Agreed that it's a great suggestion, but perhaps better to wait for the spring. If not for the comfort of photogs, then to improve the quantity of subjects.

Grocery stores, shopping malls, etc. work too.
I always wander the aisles in search of. (in stealth mode of course)

Its a great idea.. but I may have to think.
I am not very comfortable with candids, the cops here don't seem to like my face :(

You could always host a big DPC GTG to draw hapless targets models to your camera...

(That's ClubJuggle in focus and KaDi in the foreground)

Crowds? What's that? Living in a town of 205 people you don't see many crowds and there's never more than 2 people in the grocery store at any given time. :) This brought up a thought for a challenge. Maybe a hick/redneck challenge. Take a picture of a hick/redneck. I could win on this one for sure. :)

Seriously good idea.

So you're the one who was always with the camera at UTC when I was there as a kid

Edit to add: Great idea BTW!

A great idea, and a very pretty girl. AND are we getting a nice Nikon D200 as a prize? :)

I dunno, I live in Alabama...I might give you a run for your money. This state is surely not lacking in the toothless hick types....

You want to make it a personal challenge? Say....give each other about a week, or till New Years Day? I am only an hour from the Alabama line. I'm not short of hicks. LOL....Hell, I am turning into one myself for that matter! LOL...

We could even give each other a prize. Let's say...oh, a ribbon or a gift under $5 or even a free one month membership to DPC? Have a thread on it and let the voters decide? Give a week of voting time, and then count the votes on the thread?

Maybe it needn't be limited to crowds of humans ...
