I want this camera!!

But I am so sick of the hype, the misinformation, the Lack of Information from Nikon, and the Crud being spewed about the internet.

I am just as sick of the Canon vs Nikon crud out there.

Nikon needs to pull the heads out, and release when they have enough to meet demand, not have half the people out there wondering if they are going to have a Digital Christmas, or a disappointment.

It has gotten to the point where I just want to hang up my cameras and rip my hair out.

My Rant is complete.. Sorry

The new issue of Popular Photography has a cover story about it, if you're interested.

Not sure if the article is online yet, but I just got the new issue in the mail today.

Got mine yesterday. It is a cruddy, incomplete hype article, that tells you nothing new..

More Crud about a Camera you can't buy now, and no idea on when you can.

GO CANON???

What part of the Sickness of Canon vs Nikon did you not understand?
Are you the typical Canon user? Or does not being able to comprehend run in your family alone?

When is it gonna be out? I am also hoping for a digital Christmas but when I called the Nikon shop today, they said that it will be available during the last week of January. JANUARY!!!! I hope she was wrong. She said that there are some problems with some parts of the cam that they have to get them back to the factory. Again, I hope she was wrong. Maybe a marketig strategy? Anybody know the real score?

Price here in Bangkok is 75,000 baht....around 1,800 USD.

(From a guy who has been borrowing a camera since the last week of November.)

Well, there are rants, and then there's talking jibberish for the sake of hearing ones self whine. You don't make any sense at all, and I have no idea what you're even complaining about. What misinformation are you talking about?

Maybe, perhaps, some sort of specific complaint about some specific misinformation would be helpful here.

my store says i will see it 'late' next week
which means -maybe- before xmas (and maybe not)

sigh ...

What are you gonna do?

The Execs at Nikon must have consulted with Madonna to get ideas on how to create buzz because people are going seriously crazy over this thing...myself included. I check both J&R and B&H's sites three times a day for arrival updates. My salesman told me by the 20th today and he's hopeful to get 35 cameras but made NO guarantees.

I preordered mine about a month ago and have a strange feeling that I won't get it by the first round. I think it's going to be worth the wait but I'm a little concerned about quirks. I'm also surprised that there are no real sample images on the net or up on Nikons site only a few weeks before it should be hitting the stores. Certainly there has to be a few hundred thousand cameras made, at this point that they could have offered up some samples with.

The funny thing is that it doesn't seem to matter a single bit. Stores all over the planet already have 100's of backorders.

How about the Mis Information regarding the Delivery Date, The information about the EN-EL3e Li-Ion Battery vs the EN-EL3e NIMH Battery, How about the mis Information on Recall before release due either to a firmware revision rpoblem or a part replacement problem.

Just read the Forums at DPReview to get tons of Mis Information from the internet...

Mis Information and pure speculation...
I mean there is even a guy who started a complaint about it's back focus problem just to beat the critics at it before he has even seen one..

Hype = Marketing excitement = free advertisement

I'll just wait until the PS3 comes out and see :P

...and one more thing.

I will gladly wrap my new camera over the head of anybody that I hear make some stupid Canon vs. Nikon statement to me in person. The new Magnesium body should take care of things pretty well. Nice strong body....put a good hurt on the fool. Hah!

;)

Is there a marketing expert out there who can explain the logic behind this scenario?

I visited my local Ritz Camera store and found out that Ritz had gotten a 1500 camera allotment from Nikon for D200s. Naturally they sold everyone of them. This got me wondering why sell them all, why not hold one back for each of their local stores with the idea being, "Here, just take this baby in your sweaty hands and tell me how many you want."

I'm hoping to have #2 from my local shop. The owner gets #1 of course. I had the first D70 they got in, so why not the D200. =)

Now if I would just stop spending my D200 fund, so I can pay for the damned thing.
12/14/2005 12:35:37 AM · #22
See.. Now I have the Funds finally. The timing is perfect, but who knows how many of the durn things Nikon will release.

And God forbid there be just a few, they will end up on eBay for $200 over retail.

In your own words, how would you describe a 'typical Canon user'?
/just curious/

I have only met a couple Canon users, so I can't say what is typical, and that is why I asked if this person was the typical...
Get it? Or do you need a manual
