Looking forward to an England - Brazil final.

The Brazilians are gonna score a LOT of goals in that group stage :)

And to think we have to wait seven months...

Group C and Group E are going to be very interesting, Cote d'ivoire is a very strong team and I look forward to see what they can do in a real test against Argentina and Netherlands. On the other hand, the US is my sweet home team and I am looking forward to their match with Italy.

Damn, looks like we could get Germany in Round 2! :/

The Dutch will self-destruct again. It's just one of those feelings.

I'm not sure the Ghana fans were too excited to see Italy, the Czechs and the 9 seed US. That looks closest to a Group of Death as my untrained eyes can find...

Man, looks like they went easy on the home team. Wonder if they used the old frozen ping-pong ball trick... ;)

I hope that they'll get very very far. It is always so nice and quiet on the streets during EC and WC games with Holland. Always take my MC out for a spin on those days, not even the police is to be seen.

Gawd, I hate football.

I think you're underestimating the opposing teams there. But then, I'm an Australian living in Japan.

Hehe...I'll be in Oz for most of the first half of next year. Looking forward to being the only one in a Brazil shirt at the pub :))

Here's my thoughts on who should come out of each group:

A - Germany, Costa Rica
B - England, Sweden
C - Argentina, Netherlands
D - Mexico, Portugal
E - Italy, Czech Republic
F - Brazil, Croatia
G - France, Korea
H - Spain, Ukraine

Second round, well I'll wait 'til the first is over. I'm probably wrong on a few.

I'm just hoping we (USA) can somehow win our group so we don't have to face Brazil in the first game after group play. That got bloody ugly (and just plain bloody) last time.

Group C is going to be the group of death... and group E looks like it might be tough as well. Here are my picks from eah group -

A -
Germany will top the group without losing a game and Poland will finish in a close second in front of Ecaudor, Costa Rica will lose all their games.

B -
I'll give it to the two europeans once again, England and Sweden. Paraguay may upset one of them but it is unlikely... how did Trinidad and Tobago qualify?!?

C -
This one is going to be a close close one, not a single dull match! My prediction is that Argentina and Netherlands make it out of the group, but you never know.

D -
This one is wide open. Portugal would be the obvious choice but they have a long hisotry of choking under pressure (see 2002 group results). My picks are Angola and Portugal.

E -
The second group of death... Czech republic wins the group, Italy draws at least one game and wins another by a single goal margin. Ghana and US will put up really good efforts. My picks are Czech and Italy.

F -
Brazil will steam roll over the other teams, play the third game with their B team and still win. Croatia in second place. Australia and Japan would need a really big miracle for a chance to the next round.

G -
This might be a really interesting group. Togo vs France might be the 2006 version of France v. Senegal. Korea have a Dutch coach and really impressed in 2002. And Switzerland played very well in the qualifiers. If the correct French team shows up I would have to pick them and Switzerland, but Korea and Togo could easily replace one of the two depending on what happens.

H -
Pretty straight forward... Spain and Ukraine.

Nice write-up -- we'll have to see how often it's edited as play progresses ... : )

You will see plenty of Brazil shirts in Oz during the World Cup they come out from everywhere during the World Cup.
