Here are a few shots I took recently whilst visiting Canada. Vancouver Island to be precise. Took a whale watching trip and was lucky as the Orca pods had not been seen for quite some time, but were out in full force on the day.

WOW...I love these shots. I took some whale shoots last winter here in Hawaii on the Big Island. It is extremely difficult to get nice shots and focus since they surface so quickly and all over the place, plus being on a rocking boat just doesn't help. These are just terrific. The second one is my favorite. Wish I could have gotten such a great shot. Thanks for sharing. Aloha, Renee :)

Your welcome Kekiinani, your right it's very awkward to say the least. Plus you have this suit on that makes you move like a wodden top, lol. Oh yeah and I had two cameras with me, so must have looked like a complete wally.

Wow, great shots. When did you take them? I was in the San Juan Islands right near there last week, but everybody said the whales had left for the Winter already.

Yeah, I took them at the very end of October, I was over for a month visiting a relative. All the guys that take you out were really quite excited that day, they thought only the humpbacks were around, they hadn't seen the orcas for a while. Apparently they hung around for a few more days and went of. There were 12 pods, all of which were resident, which only eat the red salmon. I took lots of shots, but mostly fins, lol.

For those of you who don't know a pod is like a family of whales.
