sigh. just got two 1's in a row, and of course no comment explaining why. I am trying not to lose faith in this process...

Why is 1 even an option? 4.4267

Well, I've never posted a score on here before, but felt like it might be fun....though I fear I may become addicted.

May look ok, but I started at a 6.4 this morning. Thought I MIGHT be able to pass 6.5, but looks like I'll be lucky to stay above a 6.0....here's to hoping!!

I am somewhat perplexed with this score. When I woke up this morning at about 4 eastern standard time I was at 7.000 with 28 votes and I was completely shocked, beforehand I had decided I would be very happy if it scored above a 6. I was even starting to dream of the yellow ribbon to close out my collection. Then all day long it has just plummeled down and now I am at this.

Please don´t misunderstand me, I am by no means complaining, I just don´t understand? I did some math so the last 80 people gave it an average of 5.65 but the first 28 an average of 7? This is a voting trend I have never seen before, usually I don´t see any big changes in my score after getting the first 20 votes, the biggest change so far was my shot in "apple" that started out at about 6.8 and ended up almost in a 7.5.

Anyone else had their score drop this far and not getting any comments explaining why? Again, I am by no means complaining about the score, the 7 really shocked me, just perplexed. Oh and I don´t think it has anything to do with meeting the challenge, my shot is very obviously shot with a single artificial light source.

i think lot of people are giving others 1s because they got from someone. My score has started low, then increased then dropped. mine is pretty average entry (good compostion though). Earlier i was entering the challenge, but then just put something half heartedly.

Yep....dropped around 1.200 points over night.

No negative comments.

I think it's more surprising that you haven't experienced a significant change after 20 votes. I see it all the time, usually down.

I have two back to back challenges where I started at a 4.9 and a 6.6 after about 20 votes, they finished within 0.03 of each other...

Oh God! I think mine actually peaked at 4.4. I was more cheerful looking at the suicide shots! Ugh!

I am quite serious, this is like the what, the 39th challenge for me and I have never seen a drop this big or a rise that high either, well not that I can remember, I usually don´t get very hung up on scores during the "early hours" of voting, just got a little excited to get a 7 when I really really didn´t expect one even though I personally liked the shot.

Maybe I have just been "lucky" this far as for having no really dramatic changes, well I guess there is a first time for everything :)

I am just curious, is ANYONE scoring really well in the challenge, I think I have gone over this whole thread and the highest score I have seen is a 6.17?

I've heard of one 6.4 (a co-worker who trades score emails with me), but that's about it. Like with most challenges though, there will be those who score higher and just don't post on forums.

This is what DPC has driven me to

LOL, just kidding, but I had fun with that low score, so mmight as well enjoy my now 4.7059

i wouldn't bet on that... from personal experience, it takes until about the 150th vote... too many members + registered users to steady the vote at 100 ;)

what do you all use to resize your photos????

If a shutter-happy nerd happened to have some time on her hands and happened to spend, oh, about an hour and a half on a Wednesday evening devising a spreadsheet for the purposes of tracking dpchallenge scores and averaging trends... would anyone want a copy? If, say, all you entered was the date/time, the number of votes, and the average score, and it figured the rest for you (but it couldn't tell you what individual votes were, of course, just the average since the last time you entered data)? I'm just... curious.

:)
