It was suggested on another thread about my flyer that I put my picture on the back with my contact information. I have hesitated in doing that as I hate self portraits, especially with my one eye. I'm blind in my left eye, have been since I was 14 and it doesn't open as much as my right eye, especially when I'm tired so I've hesitated to take my own picture, up close and personal. All the ones you see of me are usually at a distance or you can't see my face, like my Dead End Entry. That's me standing there, not a MAN! :)

Anyhoo, I'm thinking either a profile shot or a shadowed shot for the flyer if I do it, but would that come off as to odd. Or if anyone near me wants to practice head shots I'm willing to model! ;)

Greetings,
Hmm, try for a side profile shot, maybe back lit?

Could do the old arty camera covering one eye self portrate thing (only half joking). I think a mostly side profile would be fine also.

I took a look at your profile photo.

You can choose from: a) showing yourself from a favourable angle (this is where photography is really good), or b) showing us yourself as you are - because profile photo is not a beauty contest, it is for having face on top of messages :) I'm sure you are not hiding at home when you need to go outside. Why you should hide from us?

OK, for flyer I would choose a), but for DPC profile - definitely b).

I don't know whether this helps you, but I used my own face for my business cards:

How about something scarey like this? :)

Just light the side that you prefer to use!

Hey Deannda,
I know how frustrating that can be. I have one eye that gets hung up a lot //images.dpchallenge.com/images_portfolio/20530/orig/258125.jpg

Have you considered taking a straight-on shot and pasting a copy your good eye over the other?

Hey - me too, left eye too! Wonder how many of us are cyclops. (I was 8, a kid was throwing nails).

I was 14, bike with no brakes, went through a window and hit a wardrobe and popped back out. Shattered the bone under my left eye.

I'm going to work on one tonight, I have to get past this because I can take a good portrait when I wanted to, see here: Here's one version, STUNNING if I say so myself

and here: I look GOOD in red, LOL :)

i finaly got around to do a my profile shot while experimenting last night
(thinking about single light sources - & no, i entered Camouflage instead)

easy enough to do - keep you remote handy & a small mirror to get that 'expession', everything at 'arms' length

- though i would probably suggest a 3/4 shot (mostly good side ;)
as side lighting is rather ominous ...

Without a doubt I HATE TAKING MY OWN PICTURE! LOL!

Terry is off the next three days, guess what he gets to do!

It looks fine to me.

If you're going into business, the most important thing to bring with you is confidence.

P.S. Oh, and bringing your camera helps too.. :)
