OK, I've looked at this several times and for the life of me can not justify a $4500 price tag on this. Honestly I find the image rather ho-hum. Will someone please help open my narrow-minded views and enlighten me. I must be missing SOMETHING!!!

Must be because it's 90 inches long? ;^)

But I've always been told size doesn't matter!!! Are they wrong?!?!?

I'm almost sure that that picture would not finish higher than in the low 5's if entered on DPC. lol

This is a "collage" -- a one-of-a-kind piece, more like an original painting than a photograph in character, even if it uses photos as the "paint."

So in order to attach astronomical prices to my mediocre pictures, all I have to do is not sell multiple prints? OK, I can do that!!!

That and be a well-known artist. Which she is. Not as a photographer, more as a sculptor I think. If being one-off is the only criterion, I got a few old paintings from my art school days you can have for a song, reduced price sale, shall we say, two thousand apiece? Buy all three for five thousand?

Ah, so that's it. I knew it had to be something like that.

Remember, I only claimed that explained the price, not justified it : )

Remember too that most of the profits from sales of of art usually accrue not to the artist, but to the savvy investor who correctly guesses which new talent will soon become "hot" or die (or, preferably, both).

I'd derive more pleasure from sending $4,500 to one of the talents here at DPC to hire them to go to that location and duplicate that print for me.
:-)

But hey, that's the nature of art & fame.

I must track down the lyrics to Tom Paxton's "Pop Art"

OK... but I would need travel expenses too. Oh, and my trusty kit lens probably isn't wide enough so I would need equipment costs too. I could probably pull it off for an even 10K. You still interested?

interesting. the first thing that popped into my mind when I say it was "ho-hum." I hadn't read your post yet and I can't remember ever saying ho-hum before in my entire life...

Edit: Not a term I normally use, but my granddad said it all the time!
