Ok, I'm always a little cautious about buying things online, so I was hoping that once again I could turn to you all from help.

I've found decent prices on the camera I want at buydig.com and dell.com.

It's slightly cheaper ($5) at buydig, but I don't know much about them. Ok? not ok?

Thanks!!

I also bought from buydig, took a few days to actually ship it, but I ordered over a holiday weekend.

Everything I ordered was in perfect condition. I also bought from them because of their ratings on pricegrabber.com and resellerratings.com and a recommendation from a friend.

Guess they looked themselves up on resellerratings and got a clue then. You should post a review there.

I've bought cameras from both places. Aside from delays, no problems with either.

Buying Canon merchandise from Dell seems to be tough because of the wait.

I have purchased Canon equipment from Dell on two separate occasions. Both times the product arrived in 5 days.

The interesting thing to me is that a couple of days after I ordered the 580EX, Dell sent me email saying that the product would not be shipped for a couple of weeks. I sighed but thought, oh well, I'm not in a real big hurry anyway. Three days later the 580EX arrived.

So far they are two-for-two at excellent prices for me. Both the battery grip and the flash were well under the prices I would have paid to Adorama or B&H for the same product.

I've bought several things from Buydig, including one or two cameras, and I've never had a problem. I would highly recommend them.

Ditto, unless it's a really good price, I'm not in a hurry to get it, and i'm in the mood to complain...

I bought my RebelXt from Dell, arrived within a week....

I'm sure you would be ok with either supplier, as long as there isn't some really spectacular coupons and sales going on.

I think the moral of the story is:

Resellerratings.com is right. With Dell, you have about a 40% chance of a completely satisfactory order. With Buydig, you have about an 80% chance of completely satisfactory order.

Take your pick.

Individual stories mean nothing, but the combined wisdom of statistics (hah!) tells you something here.

I only buy from Dell when they have one of those price crazies. I have bought from Buydig without issue but to be fair I have had no real hassle at Dell either - been lucky with the lack of delays.

Dell:
----

1. Completely lost my first order
2. Re-did order and gave me a $50 credit
3. Screwed up my order for a battery w/$50 credit.
4. Screwed up my financial payment plan. (Sent me collection notices even though I'd paid $100/month. They mis-applied a payment toward a back month)
5. Never gave me receipts on half the stuff I bought. (This would later become an issue when Canon service lost my battery grip.)
6. Cost me 20+ hours of phone/email/support time.

Dell Computer = Hell Orders

Have you read the Resellerratings.com's reviews about Dell? It sounds as though the vast majority of bad reviews have more to do with faulty equipment of their own branded products and poor customer service regarding those products, than with issues of purchasing a product made by another manufacturer.

AS long as you are not buying a product with the Dell name on it I think you will be alright purchasing from them. They do have some killer sales and great prices.

Actually,

Almost everyone I've talked to regarding Dell had service nightmares and delays. The thing is, they're a big enough company that they will hand you a $50 credit to say "i'm sorry". But expect a 20% chance of your order taking 3x as long.
