Do you have any?

Also for Pagemaker 7, too.

Much obliged.

You see, there are so many out there, and I'm feeling overwhelmed by the choice.

Photoshop 7 Bible
Author: Deke McClelland

This is a great resource, written in understandable terms with a touch of humour. Everything you want to know is in it.

Photoshop 7: Photographers' Guide by David D. Busch
ISDN 1-929685-68-8
Approx retail price: 39.95 USD

It explains what all the tools are, including some that I had never played around with before. It gives step-by-step instructions on how to reach a desired effect, and includes the photos on a CD so you can 'learn' how to do them and compare them with the final images to see just how close or far you were away from achieving it. The language is easy to read and follow. After you've learnt the techniques it's still great as a reference tool. I found it helpful on various levels and would recommend it to the beginner and expert alike.

I HIGHLY recommend "Photoshop 7 Artistry" -- it's an excellent book geared for novices and experts alike and focuses on digital photography especially.

I've been using Photoshop for about 10 years and this book taught me a ton of tricks in just the first few chapters.

I second this!! I have this book, and several others by Scott Kelby. He does a great job of explaining what he is doing.
Down and Dirty Tricks is one of his books, and I think he contributed to Killer Photoshop Tips.
I also like the Photoshop WOW series.

I am adicted to Photoshop books and I have about 20 of them. There are also some great Photoshop tips on line. Look up Photoshop tips and tutorials in Google.

The Photoshop book for digital photographers sounds interesting

What kind of topics does it cover ? I get fed up picking up Photoshop books from the library that spend 100 pages explaining how to open a picture up or how to click 'auto color'

The PS book for DP's requires practically no Photoshop knowledge at all. It gives fixes, (pro)workflow, tips etc in standalone understandable paraghraphs. You don't need any previous paraghraph or chapter to understand the next one. It doesn't make you the Photoshop pro, it gives you the information to get the task done.
It doesn't explain each feature, it tells you how to fix your photo, how to get the results that pro's seem to get.

Paragraphs go like this:

Step one: Open the photo
Step two: Go to that menu, click that, you'll get this
Step three: Now we need to set this, tweak that, do this and do that
Step four: Now select this, set it up like that
Step five: Now click here, paint there, etc If not happy, try this, pics like that might need a little less of that......

He uses more words, a lot of pictures and humor.

Example paragraphs:
"The cool trick for turning small photo's into Poster sized prints"
"Compensating too much flash"
"Fixing photo's where you wish you hadn't used flash"
"Dealing with digital noise"
"Color correcting digital camera images" (Curves tutorial, with tips how to select the right points for the samplers)
"Studio portrait correction made simple"
"Correcting flesh tones for photo's going to press"
Several masking techniques
"Removing dark circles under eyes" (portraits)
"Lessening freckles or facial acne" (portraits)
"Dodging and burning done right" (with a layer and a brush, not the tools, great easy results imho)
"Whitening eyes"
"Transforming a frown into a smile"
"Digital nose job"
"Adjusting the color of individual objects"
"Removing love handles"
"Replacing the sky"
"Stiching panorama's together"
"Replicating Photography filters" (Warming, cooling, color)

Etc. I believe that Amazon has scans of the contents pages.

I'd say it reads a bit like the tutorials on this site.

Does this come with a CD or does it not need one?

Sometimes it seems better to have the CD with working photos and examples.

For beginners try "Visual Quickstart Guide" for Photoshop 7. The series has very affordable line of computer books. $19.99 or even cheaper online. They help out with the basics.

"Photoshop 7 Wow Book" and "The Photoshop book for Photographers" are really nice once you get the basics down.

"The Photoshop Elements Book for Photographers" comes out this month and I plan to get it.

I don't work for them but seems all the books mentioned comes from "Peachpit Press"
