That's a nice set-up you are selling, may I ask why you are getting rid of all your equipment?

I tried my hand in Photography and failed. I'm going to sell my gear and stick to a nice Canon point and shoot.

I wouldn't consider this a failure. This was your first year with photography and from what I understand, you will have to give it a little more time before you do well in your hobby-business. One year is a small time. You might have spent more time learning and less time focussing on a business plan.

hey don't knock the business plan....
most failures in photography and any other art for that matter (i would guess) are due to a poor business plan.

Actually, most of the artistic greats are considered failures until after their deaths.

How many great painters, poets, writers, etc. never saw any fame or accolade but are revered a 100 yrs later.

I've been a photographer Hobbist for about 4 years now. I see lots of people making some money in the hobby so I thought I would try. I went out and got some nice equipment and tried to see if I could pay for it, but no luck I didn't get it done.

So it's been a get little while with my 300d then my 20d but now I got to pay the bills some how.

Hello Corwyn, I am sorry that photography didn't work very well for you, I am in the same position having spent more than $3000 so far, but I am still enjoying every penny of it.

Anyway, your prices are a bit high, for example:

50mm f/1.4, your price: $375 = $320 US (+Shipping), you can buy this new for $309 shipped from Buydig.com, - $15 rebate = $294

85mm f/1.8, your price $425 = $362 US (+Shipping), again you can buy it new for $337 shipped from DigitalFoto.com, - $15 rebate = $322.

If you want to check the best prices on items so that you can price yours accordingly, check pricegrabber.com

Hint: You can often get more money for your used items than new, if you sell it in eBay auctions, a lot of people simply don't know about pricegrabber.com, and others get so excited bidding in an auction that they don't care or don't realize how much money they're paying to win the item.

Sent you a PM.

Don't sell it man. Your photo's are great. The debt is nothing. It's whether you love to do it.

Do you love it?

If not, then sell. If so, you're being a fool. Money is nothing.

You are not factoring in that I have the lens hood for all of these plus I am from Canada so if I were to buy those lenses I would have to pay duty and 15% tax wich makes mine a better deal. Again I am stating theses cannot be told from new. They are in mint condition.

What is the age of all the lenses? Were they all new when bought?

10/27/2005 06:42:31 PM · #22
I bought the 35mm and 50mm new only 3 months ago form B+H and the 85mm from a camera shop in Calgary new only 3 months ago. I have receipts from them all.

I bought the 100-400 used about a year and a half ago. It is in great condition. I can send pics if needed or scan receipts.

I wonder what would of happened if the white settler gave up after 4 years when they invaded these lands.

NEVER GIVE UP. Sure am glad the White Sox had this notion stuffed in their back pocket.
