once again I just love everyones interputation of the challenge. Didn't see anything about not using high key, a light image, B+W, color, etc. It was light on white thats it. I will just have to sit back and laugh! Hey it won't stop me from entering challenges and trying to improve.

*grin* - thanks. As a scientist I just haven't been able to resist making charts and graphs with regression lines accounting for variation and models predicting trends in my scores and rankings. These trends have been steadily climbing showing what I hope to be a solid improvement in my challenge shots.

I think I'll stop that now.... ;)

I knew this would be a difficult challenge, but I really want to puch myself and try difficult things. I really liked my image, and I guess it is doing "alright". Of course I wish it was doing better. I am determined to get out of the 4-5 range on these challenges eventually:-)

Man, it seems like your pictures always do that. I don't know why.

Looks like I'm fighting, fighting, fighting, but it's gonna be a long haul...

hokie -- ssoooooo glad to see you back, dude!!!

comment on bw pics -- don't assume too quickly it was bw. Mine is submitted in color, but looks like it is black and white.

That said, I shudda entered "delicate" or just left the camera in the case. :(

Read the challange again, it is light on white, light colors on a white background, be carefull not to blow out the highlights. So light COLORS on a white BG (not to mention B&W can fake Whites and light colors) and Usually a High key will blow out highlights

I am looking at all the shots carefully, making sure they arent B&W, some are very difficult to tell I will agree.

Finially my score aint to hot either, Co worker pulled up image and looks blue on his LCD, White fading to grey on both my systems at home (one CRT and one LCD) and Slightly darker grey on my CRT at work, this diffrent monitor thing is going to kill me!

As usual..after the initial flurry...I suspect the score to settle in around here. About what I expected for the shot but I like it a lot and that is what counts!

i disagree, the difference imho between a high key photo, and an overexposed photo is blown highlights.

I hate it when I leave a word out. should say will usually blow out highllights.
Your right a well done High Key won't blow the highlights but seems to me quite a few do.

Well, it seems to be doing a smidge better. It went up then slipped back a bit. I just really hope it doesn't fall below a 5

HELP!!!

Ok, I submitted my photo. I worked on it in PSE 3.0 and didn't really DO a whole lot to it. I was satisfied and actually a bit proud! On my monitor, it looked white on an edge and warmed to a creamy color over the rest of the image. I resized it to fit it to the DPC standards to post. My thumbnail looked as good as the original. Now, voting starts and I see these colorful blotches and a yellow cast in the image! What did I do wrong?

The "bagheads" comments were pointing out the flaws I described above but not how to fix it or maybe how I went wrong!

I am in a downhill spiral without a parachute, folks!

Madison , I had a kind of similar problem...Someone commented that my shot had a green hue...Not on my monitor, though :((
I am thinking I will avoid the white challenges until I can get a screamin' monitor....

Not an expert, but have seen it written, and have seen it on my own pics, that your desaturation can cause that. Do think other things can/will be involved, but as I cannot know which is yours, hard to say anything else. There were a BUNCH of that type in this challenge, along with a lot of blown out photos. Too bad too, liked a lot of them!!
