Ten minutes before last night's deadline i unsubmitted this image from the B&B challenge. I was somewhat unsure what the challenge actually entailed and presumed there would be similar confusion in voters' minds. This week i did a number of B&B shots on various subjects and had fun doing so. That, actually, is more important to me than submitting. And yeah, i had a shot that was truly B&B but of all the ones i did it was the least interesting :)

Please tell me whether you think it would have met the challenge and what you think of it. Thanks

The subject matter doesn't do much for me. Being a bloke I would have preferred cans of beer or something : )

Joking aside it's not a bad shot, something I would expect to see finishing in the low to mid 5's. The grey background bothers me a bit, especially where it meets the table, and I'm not too keen on the comb being half in-half out of frame. Having said that I do like the way the light catches the comb, I would like to see that made the main subject of the shot.

I think the highlights here in your shot are a bit to bright for a BoB??

(IMO)

The subject matter didn't do a lot for me either. I do have a box of Lancome make-up but wear little of the stuff since i don't like all that gook on my face. I liked too how the light catches the comb and thought about doing shots with mainly the comb but by then i had pretty much lost interest in the whole BonB exercise.

It works for me but I think it could have been much stronger (or more in the vein of Black on Black) with less light from right. Not particularly intriuging subject matter for me though. I would have given it a 6 as is or a 7 with more subdued lighting. I'm sure someone is going to jump on me for saying this considering my views in the Black on Black Can of Worms thread. Cheers.

My never submitted b&b. I guess I learn by example. I never really figured out what the Black on Black challenge required until viewing the entries. I played around some and think I might have figured it out. If you don't mind looking at this, would you tell me if it would have qualified as 'meeting the challenge'? Thanks in advance for taking a peek!

It doesn't really look black to me..it looks marroon. not sure why. I don't care for it. needs more contrast or something. What kind of background are you using?

This image is way to dark. It is ok to make it visible. I do see it but not enought to really enjoy it. Take a look at some of the ones in the challenge you can get a good idea on what they look like. :-)

Well, I created the background, the light was coming through a daylit window and I took it out. The rules were suspended for editing, so I thought that would be ok. Maybe I didn't 'get it' at all.
