Hi All!

I'm new here, so I thought I'd introduce myself a little, before I started posting :) I'm from B.C, Canada, and I've been interested in photography for about 5 years now. I just started really getting into it the last couple years with taking pictures at hockey games. I also love taking pictures in macro mode. Now I just need a better camera :P

This is such an awesome place for tips, tricks, and really great pictures.

So Hello to all :)

See you around!

Hi,
This is place is not too bad once you get used to all the people that obsess over challege submissions and how well those fit to the theme ... get a little annoying after some time.

Que tal, Alexander! I think you met this site at an unfortunate timing. There is indeed some negativity around here once in a while, but actually, this place is full of lovely people, supporting each other where possible. At least, that's my experience here.

A fellow Canuck. Welcome onboard. You'll be addicted to this site in no time.

Ha Ha :D Yes, I've met some interesting people here too. The good thing is that people seem be more focused on taking photos then on bitching about that camera was used to take it (I am a dpreview.com refuge).

The quibling about the theme and the photo orientation (Magazine Cover challenge comes to mind) is more entertaining then anything else at this time ... I just wanted to reply with "Oh, get a life" and start a flame war, but it is more fun to see these people argue about it.
The fun ones are: "Can I add text/border to my submission?" ---> I hereby patent RTFR on dpchallenge :D

Welcome!!!!! this is a great site for learning...a few people complain about their scores once in awhile but mostly the group is very caring. I am addicted and can't wait to see some of your work.

Hey! I resemble that remark! For the record, yours is better than mine, so quitcher bitchin. :-> (Not that I don't rag on mine all the time and whine about how I want a better one, mind you).

Thanks for the welcome everyone.

I was at another place before, Deviant Art. But this site is much better. It is sort of like a scavenger hunt trying to get these pictures done for challenges.

Eloise, sorry about that comment on the camera heh.. I love my camera, I don't leave the house without it. :)

Thanks again, I also look forward to getting around to check out all your pictures, and the future challenges.

@Eloise - Your camera was able to produce this: //www.dpchallenge.com/image.php?IMAGE_ID=7212

:)

It's not about the camera. (I feel like I've joined the darkside for saying that).

He's right. I have a good camera and I haven't really product great shots.
I think it has to do more with knowing your camera and having the eye for great composition.

I'm getting a little better with knowing my camera and its ablilities.
The harder part for me is knowing what to shot. (Besides just flowers)
also execution is crutual.... Not the camera.
