Who's in? Which did you choose and why? Who loves their shot?

I picked personification and LOVE my shot! :)

I would have liked to enter the personification but from what I read in the threads there seemed to be too many people at odds of what the meaning was...which by the way if you would just go by the details put there it would be easier to understand, and I felt the voting would be all over the place. Maybe it would work out in the end but was too skeptic.

Sunday I submitted an image to Pride that is sure to get under a couple peoples skins but I don't care about that, it is pride for a lot of people and pisses off a lot of others. Deal with it and vote on the image in it's technical form, not whether you agree with the subject or not (it does clearly meet the challenge so that shouldn't be an issue either). It is certainly not to the standars of Joey or some of the other fantastic photographers here but it's not a shot I could do over and over again to get it right and I like it.

(p.s. I don't want this to turn into a rant about the details of the challenges and how you should vote so please don't ruin the thread)

Pride...it was the only shot I had that I could make fit one of the challenges

I was really looking for Pride on my trip last week, but Personification was there right in front of me. I love the photo I entered I am sure it will be torn down and score badly (that seems to happen when I love my photo) but it fits into the challenge so prefectly I could not pass it up.

Personification...& I think it will be a personal best at least!

I hope it isn't Lexi in a costume... just kidding, loved your shot for greeting cards!

I entered personification, put a lot of work in it, and am not really satisfied with the result, mainly caused by lack of a decent studio. Did my best though, hope you all appreciate it!

I entered pride because I couldn't find a personification shot. I'm happy with the way my shot turned out, but I can't say that I love it. A week without watching my score go up and down is just unthinkable, so I came up with an idea and went with it.

I had an idea for personification but didn't photograph it. From reading some of the posts people said they would vote low if there was a "face" in the entry and there would have been one in my photo. I might still photograph it, but not for the challenge.

Personification was a very intersting challenge for me, as i never did anything of the sort.

As for pride... i'm so scared of seeing 200,000 US flags, that it never crossed my mind to actually submit something. (no offense anyone).

I think we're gonna see some very funny and colourful pictures for Personification. Can't wait! :D

I went with Personification .. entered it last night. I hope it does well. I'm worried that voters won't see what I see ... I'm guessing a lot of people are probably worried about that.

I couldn't think of anything good for pride. Also, I didn't think I'd have the energy to vote on Pride. I'll browse through the Pride stuff to see if that was the right decision for me.

I'm really looking forward to voting on Personification. I promise to carefully look at all the entries, especially those that aren't immediately obvious with a fit into the challenge.

I promise, too! ;-)

I went with pride. I had some ideas for personification but the weather didn't cooperate.

My main idea was to take a picture of Mt. Rainier and call it "Mighty" since I thought that was a good use of personification...

Pride for me... I am really anxious about my shot. I think it has potential to do well, but could easily crash and burn depending on the moods of the voters.

I went with pride also. Actually, this is the first challenge since I joined where the idea came to me right away. Now I'll just sit back and see what the voters think.

Shouldn't the choices have been Pride or Prejudice? No wait, no way I wanna try to shoot that!

I went with "Personification." It's been quite awhile since I entered an open challenge and this one intrigued me. I thought about what it meant, and then gave a few days thought to what might work for me. My photo turned out just as I had envisioned (remarkably!) and I'm happy with it.

Who knows how it will score? LOL What I really hate is when I DON'T enter a challenge because I think my idea will tank...then I look through the challenge and think "well, maybe it would have done okay." So I quit worrying about how I think it will score because it would just drive me nuts. I enter if I like my photo and that's about it.

I really didn't give any thought to "Pride" at all because I only have time for one.

I was not planning on entering and then BAM! My picture was right there. So I went with Personification.

this week-end i've entered my very first challenge with personification and am really anxious. i'm a very picky viewer and can tell that many of you out there are also very honest about what you like and don't like and why.

funny how we can make up our minds about a picture in the first second, unless it's our own!! especially when it's something abstract as a human quality seen in an inanimate object.

well, i'm ready. bring it on, guys and girls!

Neither. I had an idea for Pride, but haven't had time to shoot for it. I tried last night and the results were not at all what I had in mind. I could spend more time on it but I have an exam tomorrow to study for so I think I'm abandoning this challenge. Probably good, I've been quite obsessive with the update button lately. Time to lay off a bit. ;) Hopefully there will be something good next week to work on.

I have decided to try to continue my streak with Personification. I'm happy with my entry, but it is not as safe an entry as my others have been.
10/11/2005 05:16:23 PM · #22
Neither! I wrecked my good idea for Celebrate through trying to rush a pic in and I am suffering the consequences, quite rightly so as it is NOT a decent shot!
So I am not going to put any shot in just to be able to use the update button for a week! I had a great idea of a scarecrow for personification but couldn't find one! The wide angle challenge is pretty wide open so unless I get something really good I am going to leave that one too. I must admit to being a bit disappointed in the challenges recently - they are not grabbing me with lots of ideas and I see so much petty voting due to interpretations of the challenge or its description. Puts me off!

Pride. I was involoved in a shoot that would not normally include bride. When I down loaded the images, one just screamed at me, "Pride, Arrogance, Aloof," so I entered. We'll see if it screams the same to others. My husband and son loved the shot, but had to have it explained as to how it fit the challenge. We'll see if the title makes the connection for the voters.

Good luck all!

Pride here. Had fun with it.

I think it will be really interesting to see how many people use animals for personification.
