I'm usually not one to complain, but can we go one challenge (it doesn't matter what it is) without having to see a photograph of a guitar at an angle? Try something different, it doesn't matter how good it comes out, just not another damn guitar.

Guitars are cute...

Like a guitar straight on?

Add trees and buildings whilre youre at it. Oh, and those annoying people things. I can't stand those most of the time.

Not as cute as OPKs, which I pretty much feel the same way s.e.stevens feels about guitars.

I wish I was looking at the same challenges you are, 'cause I really like guitar shots :-)
Just checking on the current challenges, 3 on front page, 3 in voting,(that's 1499 photos) there are 3 shots of guitars at angles (2 in coffee shop, and 1 in from the ground up). I didn't go back and specifically check beyond that, but I know I don't see that many guitar shots (except there were quite a few in live music), and I look for 'em! Of course, that's only in the last year and a half, maybe there were a lot more before that...

As much as I like the music they create, and enjoy their curved architecture, I am in agreement with the original post about guitars. As limiting as they are in a close up, the "up shots" or "down the neck" shots kind of run together to me. After being here for a bit of time, I start seeing different takes on the same thing, which is certainly to be expected, so it's hard to really get excited about something when you've seen it quite a few times. It's similar with piano keys. Sure have seen a few of those over the past months as well. And don't get me wrong, I do love them both, but their ability to evoke much sentiment in me is waining.

I was gonna say that I've only used my guitar as a prop a couple of times, but it turns out to be four (in 300-plus entries). I don't think I use it exactly the way you describe though.

It's also important ot remember that, for many photographers, it is their first time trying a classic subject. It's not their fault you've become jaded -- why not judge them by how well they accomplished the goal, and not on your aesthetic fatigue?

I'd like to suggest accordions. They make a nice alternative to guitars.

I'd also love to see a challenge that doesn't have a picture of a sunset with the title of the picture being the same as the challenge title. For example, don't just submit your latest sunset shot and call it "Coffee Shop." However, please note that it's perfectly acceptable to do this with accordions. :-)

I'm sick of seeing the same things over and over again. Do you know how many pictures are in the Coffee Shop challenge?! I'm sick of pictures! Start being original damn it! Puff... pictures.

Couldn't resist.

I'm guilty

Yeah, I'm thinking it's a matter of preference because I like guitar shots. One daughter is learning to play guitar and another daughter is learning to play violin. I also just became the owner of an antique upright piano recently after wanting one since childhood. So maybe enjoying music gives me a biased opinion :)

(Or maybe they just look really cool in a photo, lol)

Love the shot BrenB, and the other shot of the pink one by orussell I would hang on my daughters bedroom wall if he was selling prints!

OK, now stop whining.

I don't think that guitars show up all that much in Challenges but if were to pick this type of fight I'd go with Flowers and Sunsets.

OK OK!!! I concede. Most of the shots shown in this thread - I REALLY LIKE! They have imaginative composition, color, or angles.

I'll take my foot out of my mouth now and go sit in the corner and put on my dunce cap.
