I want to offer Christmas cards as an option for my clients. Does anyone know of any good places that print/make them with photo's? I'd like both cheap and expensive options. :)

Also, as some of you know, my wife an I just had a baby and I need to send out birth announcements. Does anyone know of a place that does these?

Thanks!
Eric

i use winkflash.com for postcards for exhibit invitations- they are cheap (40c/card no min. plus 1.99 s&h)(i think, maybe 35c) and the cards are definately on par with the quality of store purchased postcards. Winkflash is the best non-pro online printshop i have used, thier print quality far suppasses others in the same pricerange.

edit - wasn't clear they do greeting cards also, with the same technology/cardstock etc, i just haven't order those myself (as yet!)

I buy all mine from Photographer's Edge. They are a bit more expensive than the photo postcards.... but the quality is really good. I charge my customers $27.50 for a box of 10, and they don't seem to mind. I would look into getting a sample and seeing the quality of the cards. :)

(This is my first forum posting here...how exciting!).

I am currently awaiting my first delivery from //www.winkflash.com which should be here tomorrow. So shall post what I think.

Otherwise, primarily for those from the UK, I used to use //www.photobox.co.uk which did very good quality prints / cards / gifts etc.

I am planning to order samples from any online vendor I can to compare the quality of different companies and to have a variery of choices for my clients.

Are there any websites you've wanted to try and haven't? I'd be glad to report on their quality for you...

Eric - loved the site and the photos, well done!

Just one thing bugged me - why does the site refer to "we" ? Are there more photographers working with you?

Sorry just a niggle I need scratching!!!

Thanks for checking it out. The site refers to we because I do work with other photographers - one of which is my wife!

Puuuuuhhleeeeez! Someone else share where they get their "custom photo" Christmas cards from!

Thanks!

Shutterfly offers traditional greeting cards and note cards (i.e. the folded kind that open), the "photo cards" commonly used these days for birth announcements and as Christmas cards (just a 4x8 print), as well as the "photo mount" cards where you insert your own photos into the card.

Well, I make mine.

I use "Classic Crest" Cover 80lb, Solar White, Super Smooth stock.

Lay them out on an 8.5" by 11" image in Photoshop, two to a page. Print them out, slice in half. Good envelopes are easy to find at most paper stores.

They look pretty good and can be spontaneously suited to any occasion.

This is probably my 2005 Xmas Card.

Modernpostcard

I've had photo post-cards made up from this company for business mailers, and the quality was outstanding. I think they have folded cards too that you can make into holiday cards.

Pictage also does greeting cards but you have to sign up for a membership.

excuse the sort of thread jacking but had to share a funny...My sisters brother-in-law one year kept all his christmas cards, the next year he crossed out the info in them and signed them himself, then sent them back to the people that sent them to him. lol They all got a kick out of it.

I will most likely do like was mentioned and just lay them out (but with Quark or PageMaker) and print them myself or at some local shop. Great links all, thanks for sharing

If you print your own cards, where do you get your paper? I need it in bulk...

Thanks again!

Neenah Paper are the people who make the Classic Crest, Sub 80, 8.5x11 (216 x 279 mm) SUPER SMOOTH paper I use. 250 sheets to a package. I've used Solar White and Avon Brilliant White. You can get it at XPEDX or other paper stores. I'd suggest you try a small supply first to see if you and your printer like it. It works pretty well on my Canon i9900.
