I understand that some people don't have a camera that can do real macro.
I also understand that good macro is hard to do.
But there were too many SO NOT macro photos in the last challenge.
good photos but not what i call macro .. macro should either in my mind be of facets of a larger item, kinda abstarcty, or of just really small stuff. The challenge wasn't close up, it was MACRO. some entries, and a lot of them disappointed me.

SO my request now is also for something different. How about we have a natural challenge, where there are NO set up studio type shots. Lets get people carrying their cameras around and taking photos of things that are there in the real world something we can all look at and go .. wow i have seen that .. that photo really does it justice.

actually, the challenge was macro OR close-up ... here's the description of the challenge theme:

'Get up close and personal with your subject this week. You need not specifically use your macro feature, but your image should be a close-up shot.'

Your suggestions reminds me too much of the CANDID challenge he had before. I can agree with you, but your idea would just make people think we were doing the CANDID challenge all over again.

Unless you bracketed it somehow like 'the most famous place in your town'. Or Town Hall. Or Gateway

Didn't we just do a 'corner of your world' challenge ? :)

Hmmm, that would be the bar, maybe the gas station. Living in a town that doesn't have even one traffic light makes that a little hard.:)
