If you could live in any city/area, where would it be and why?
Just curious.. I am graduating from college in December and am asking myself this question as I job hunt. Wondering what other people's opinions are.

I would move back to Wyoming, I would try to get some land in the Wind Rivers, out of town, backing onto BLM or forest land. I'd get a couple horses and a dog, and a backup generator (or maybe go off the grid and use solar/wind). That would be fun.
I know this doesn't help you with your job finding, but I was just sitting here dreaming of Wyoming. But then I would have to leave Canada, and that is just so hard to imagine.

Assuming it comes with enough $ to sustain then Florence, Italy. Spent a very small amount of time there and there is so much to absorb.
I guess you mean within the US for working e.t.c. :-) Dunno why but somewhere on the Oragon coast just seems to appeal to me. |

I'd move back in time when they already had glassplate cameras but weren't so industrialized and only the doctor had a car.
In this time?
I'd move to Norway, Sweden, Canada, somewhere with a lot of nature, a lot of room and little industrial crap.
And in the US: San Francisco or Memphis.

Everyone has different pictures of their ideal life and where they want to live it. Some people like more outdoors, some people are more accustomed to city-life. Some like islands. :) I don't care if people's responses are helpful to me or not, I just want everyone to dream and share their opinions! It's really neat for me to see it in everyone's answers.
Myself, I have lived in Texas all of my life. Mostly south Texas. I have always wanted to live somewhere else just to see what it is like. Maybe I will love it, maybe I will want to come back to Texas. But I would love to live either: somewhere in the northeast (not sure what city), where the leaves actually change color. Or somewhere along the west coast like Seattle, San Francisco, or Vancouver. Of course I'd have to have a well-paying job to afford it. :)
I also would take into consideration driving. I would want to live in a city where it is really easy to get around by walking or public transportation (which rules out most cities in Texas). Or a smaller town where it doesn't take long to get from place to place. I have driven in Houston rush-hour traffic and do not want to do that anymore. :) |

I would stay right where i am. Australia is such a beautiful country and everyone seems to like coming here. My friends and family are here and we live a 5 minute walk to the beach and a 6 minute walk to the shops. I wouldnt trade it for anything. It is such a laid back quiet coastal lifestyle. The kids love the beach, we get an ocean breeze right through our windows. Arrghh bliss. :)

| I would have a condo near Rittenhouse Square in Philadelphia, PA, take every photography course/workshop I could possibly find, and work on my goal of taking a photograph of all 50 state capitols. |

It would have to be Melbourne (and it is). We have been voted World's Most Livable City for a few years now. That takes into account pollution, entertainment, food, sport,weather, housing, community etc. For a modern city we are fairly peaceful, clean, friendly and the food is delicious.
The Australians are amongst the most tolerant and hospitable people in the world.
You can check out the city in 2006 on t.v when we have the Commonwealth games here in Melbourne.
And the water! We have the best drinking water straight out of the tap. And the shops......

I would also say Australia, without a doubt. I have been to many different countries, even lived a fair few of them..and Australia has the world beat! A perfect lifestyle for young and old.

Hey don't laugh..I lived in Toowoomba for a while and grew up in Woy Woy lol Grab a map of Australia...the city names are so cool!...OH I forgot all about tittybong!

I'd buy a Canon 20D, move to Iceland and win some ribbons.
I'd say it all depends on how aggressive you are and your aspirations.
I like big cities, Paris, New York, London, San Francisco or places where there is a triving, competetive art scene (music, food, museums, theatre). Big cities are great if you take full advantage of them.
