Curves is over-rated...I don't think I've used curves since...well, ever heh...no seriously, there are better methods, they just take longer.

I have CS2. There's a section in the help file that covers adjusting contrast with curves?

Is there a curves plug-in for Photoshop Elements 2.0 yet?

It's a third-party product, on a CD which accompanies a book on using Elements -- I think it's "Unlocking the Secrets of ..."

I don't know if you can still get the version 2 one though ...

My favorite contrast adjustment method is Selective Color. Works in more situations more often than curves, brightness/contrast, or lightness channels. Of course, no one adjustment method always works 100% of the time, so it's better to keep a bunch of methods on hand and use what is effective for the situation you find yourself having to use.

Curves is applied to about 99% of my photos, to some degree or another. USM, Selective Color, Hue/Saturation, and Channel Mixer are my other favorite adjustments.

curves is the most useful tool for photoshop.

if you look in magazines theyll all tell you that as well.

It's a great one, my favorite.

Curves can also be used for adjusting color as well. All you have to understand is the complimentary color scheme and you have lots of control there too.

what is a good site to learn curves?

I find experimenting is the best way to learn anything.

Btw, curves is also on ps7, if I remember correctly.

yeah it's in a lot of photo editors actually. Like paint shop pro for example.
