So what did you learn doing the last challenge ?
I found that it is sometimes better to not have everything in the frame, for a much more dynamic result. I'm sure I'll get voted down for having pieces 'cropped too tightly' but from the many shots I took, I started to realise that what isn't in the frame can be more or almost as important as what is in it...
People will probably just think I missed capturing it at the right time, but it was deliberate - honest! :) |

| I prefer pictures that are cropped tightly... and I totally agree with you, what isn't in the frame is definately as important as what is.. My husband is always critical of the pcitures I take saying I cropped them far too tight... Individual preference huh? |

| I learned .... I like my 35mm better for this type of stuff ... no lag ... if someone wants to give me $7000 for a new digital, I will be more than happy to take it! |

A few things. Ideas never stopped flooding my thoughts. I need valium !
This was a week for sure. I learned not to expect your friends to jump into a ice cold swimming pool (maybe they will talk to me again soon)among other attempts that aren't worth mentioning. I still don't have my timing perfect for catching the action but it was fun for a good laugh at times, like when falling pennies from heaven was attemped and hit my face over and over:) I can't wait to buy my new digital in the next few weeks:) |

Very very true
trying for this ?.
I had tons of ideas that didn't work this week. Still got a lot to 'internalise' so I can do it quickly - all comes with practice I guess. |

i learned that i'm addicted to this site, because even though i had no time this week and i knew there would be 37 shots of water, i took a shot at the last minute and submitted anyway.

Heh, my first comment so far basically says ' it would have been better with everything in the frame' :) I really need to show the full frame ones side by side to show why I decided not to use them :) |

| I learned it'd have been easier to take a stop-motion shot during the day. Getting enough lighting at night is a BITCH. |

that's fershure! i'm still not happy with my submission but i needed to get some sleep ...i also learned my timing really stinks and i need to practice practice practice

I learned that my three month old really likes the ceiling fans to be "on." And no, my picture is not a ceiling fan, though I thought about it.
Seriously -- all week, I kept thinking, "Could I take a picture of that and stop the motion?" I think that I am dwelling on this site too much. |

HA! You are not alone in *thinking about the site too much!* I think that it is a good things though--it is making us think like photographers...? All I know is that I see the current challenge in EVERYTHING now! It is to the point where I will go "Well, that's red, but not very interesting", and half the people around me just look at me like I said something strange, while my friends just look at each other and go "The Challenge"!

| I'm so addicted to this site that I'm afraid to go anywhere without my camera.. out of fear of missing out on the perfect shot! My boyfriend thinks I'm nuts and keeps telling me I don't need to bring it everywhere I go. He just doesn't know the hold this has over me... hahaha. When we're driving down the interstate I'm thinking "wow, that would be a great shot" " damn I wish I had the camera"! |

I learned that Sunday at 9:00 PST is not a good time to start work on a stopped motion shot. :)

| I learned that I shouldn't have entered my piece. he he he he. it's a good shot, but there was a little blur in it. but hey, for a once in a lifetime shot, it's not bad. I actually took a picture like two seconds before i saw that i could take this shot and sometimes if I take another really quick like i did this time it won't save. So I said screw it and took the picture anyway. This next contest though... dunno what i'm gonna do now. Maybe another luck shot. ha ha |

some ideas I had though, just werent practical to do. Like I really wanted to do a sledgehammer going through a big sheet of plate glass, and catch it just as the glass was starting to explode out around the hammer, but where the hey a) could I get the glass, b) where I could I smash it? and c) what if I messed up my only chance?
Another idea was a white pitcher in profile on a white background pouring out red koolaid. again, I dont own a pitcher and I dont have a place where I can just go crazy pouring red koolaid ..
bullet through something - enough said.
in retro i should have done something with our cat - put some little cardboard wings on her and made her into a 'flying kittie!' hehe |

got a white tub/shower or know anyone who does? i think you should still take that picture, sounds really cool! oh dear, sorry, no pun intended i just think it sounds like a really great photo idea :o)

| outside on a hazy day where the angle puts the pitcher in the sky, and a long exposure. that should turn the sky into a white background |

| I learned there is always a better way to do a photo. It just always seems that I don't figure this out until the voting starts. Maybe I'll get better with time. |
