I'm taking some photos of my sister's kids this weekend, and if any of them come out well she wants to be able to get some quality prints of them.

I've never taken pictures for someone else before, so where do you guys go to have prints made for your "clients"? (though you can't really call my sister that)

I've had good results from Walmart, believe it or not. If it is your first time printing out your images it may be worth trying with them first as they're very cheap. I've also heard good things about //www.mpix.com especially their metallic prints.

mpix metallic prints will blow you away! Awesome!! And the prices are very good!

I second the mpix solution, but I haven't bought any of their metallics. I have been buying the endura mattes.

MPIX is the way to go

Looks like I will definitely be checking out mpix, then! Thank you for the quick response. I've been using Shutterfly for personal use, but haven't been 100% happy with them and didn't want to use them for this shoot.

Thanks again, I'll let everyone know how they turn out.

You can order your prints through DPC Prints. If you are just ordering them yourself, they do not have to be "approved" -- just upload and order at the base price. Quality is excellent.

For economy prints, I do mine through Costco, but you have to be a member for that. You can upload to their internet site (run by Snapfish) and pick up the photos at the nearest store. So far I've been very happy with the quality and services, and you can't hardly beat the prices (gosh, I just checked, and they've gone down: 8x10 = $1.49, 5x7 = $0.39!).

if you live where there is one, I like motophoto. you can even upload them, order them all online & have them sent to a store near you. (But it's cheaper if you bring a disk in!)

What do you guys thing about snapfish.com? They're super cheap, but I worry about quality.

Me.

I like the 8x10's I get from winkflash.com. I find the website and ordering process easy to use, and the prints are as good as any I've had made of my shots. They use FujiColor Crystal Archieve paper.

Mpix does all my print orders, currently.

//www.ofoto.com

has been real good for me

Mpix has great prices, quality, and turn-around time. BUT their website/ordering process is slow and tedious. Also, Winkflash currently has TWELVE CENT 4x6's (versus mpix's 29 cents), so if you're printing 4x6's, there isn't a noticeable difference for the price, that's for sure.

I've been using Adorama for my 11x14's recently, and have been very happy with their quality and service.

not to hijack this thread. but will these places interpolate your pictures for you if you choose a larger print?

Not sure exactly what you mean by "interpolate" but at winkflash you can order prints of different sizes from a single uploaded file. Same is available at DPCPrints but with the quality control restriction of at least 150 pixels per inch to get approval.
