HERE are my macro outtakes. I did not submit to the challenge. I did not have an image I was happy with.

The flower shot in this group was one of my favs but it is illegally edited. I had to clone out a lot of 'dirt' spots to make it presentable. I couldn't focus the drop of honey in any of those shots... the watch shot bored me... I really like the CHOICES photo quite a bit, and i had submitted it. I pulled it because I didn't think it was macro enough to do well. I also believe that the 'darkness' that I intentionally used in that photo would be misinterpreted as a mistake :)

Only one outtake this week.

john, with the honey drop in focus that one would've been awesome.

gordon, i like your outtake a lot. nice composition and focus.

i've got a bunch of out-takes, too (see link to out-takes below). i'm specifically curious what people would've thought of the pink rose. lots of playing around with (all DPC legal) options in the software. i like it as a shot, but didn't think it was going to do well as a macro, or in DPC in general. all feedback appreciated :)

Anyway, I did submit a completely different shot, but here are some other macro's I was playing around with.

I really had fun this weekend. I finally learned how to use the manual focus on my G2. I have alot more time on my hands since golf season is over. I was going to submit outtake 2 (Spaghetti 1), but I came across something really cool Sunday night.

I've got two outtakes this week, both of which are based on the same idea, which I ended up not using in the end:

I guess I put my outtakes in the wrong forum.

This one I am not sure of.

I would like some comments on these, please. Did I do poorly on the macros? What would you do different?
I will be back to comment on everyone elses photos. My baby just woke up. :)

I really like your second pick the best. The colours are brilliant and the subject is completely in focus (Maybe needs a bit more lighting on the front grille). Your first pick, I find, lacks depth of field but I like the angle. Your third pick probably would have been hammered in the challenge, because alot of people seem to hate figurines.

Any comments on my outtakes (see a few posts up). Thanks.

I like cigar 1 the best. The lighting is great. :-)

Here are a couple of mine. I don't like most of them, some are only online for the pretty colors.
I do like how the camera caught the threads of the record and the batteries are the most viewed.

wow, just a tad sharper on the record player and level, and you would've had a winning shot in my mind. a very good shot as it is.

I finally have some outtakes to show. Haven't had too many lately. You might notice an animal theme. Went to the zoo and aquarium this week :)

Autool I couldn't get your link to load.

Forget the last attempt. I envy those of you that have the patience to take pictures of bugs. I never had so much trouble in my life, and I picked one that moved slow and couldn't fly away. Anyway here are some of mine if the link works.
Thanks,
Autool

That's the one I almost went with! But my score is really good so far, so I don't think I made a bad decision (hopefully).
I forgot to mention that all except for the pig were taken through glass.
My actual submission is different from the outtakes.

I ended up going in a completely different direction than this, btw. :-)

Jacko, I love the picture of the plant the best, the only thing I would suggest is a different background.
Jmseltzer, I love after the rain and honey 3. I'm a sucker for good flower shots.
Gordon, I like Kirium, I love the color.
gr8photos, Nice rose, love the color.
Karen, I like the last flower the best. The color is beautiful. The mushroom would have been nice, but it is to much out of focus for me.
manic, I like the first one better, because the light is to bright in the second one. Did you try getting closer to the cigar?
Azrifel, First 4 picture are awesome. My favorite is the mushroom.
TerryGee, Very nice pictures. I like them all.
Good luck every one on the challenge.

Wow you guys have some nice outtakes.. some quite worthy of the challenge... you must have entered something really nice! TerryGee the snake is WOW!. Just a little crop to get rid of that cut on his body and it's perfect... Azrifel if there is a way to black out everything in the pic except that mushroom I think that might look really neat... there were several others shown here I liked.. good job everyone... here's my only outtakethis week... it's nothing spectacluar or really interesting.. but I thought the DOF was really good as well as the focus on the tomato.. anyone agree or disagree? thanks!

anacronite, I would like it better if it were closer and more light. Great dof.
kosmikcreeper, Great macro, but the subject isn't very interesting.

These were the macro outtakes I had this week. I ended up using the very first shot I took which was completely different from these outtakes. Let me know what you think.
