A lot of people have mentioned that they missed this or that past challenge and would like to revisit them...how 'bout a challenge on past challenges. Choose any past challenge you'd like to photograph and put the name of the challenge in the title of your photo.

I second this. I think it sounds like fun.

I would also like to submit something like "In Someone Else's Shoes" -- Take a photo where the photographer has substituted him/herself for another person, and the photo shows what that person would see. For example, a doorman would see a cab whizzing by, a postal carrier would be dropping letters in the slot, etc...

I haven't read the whole thread- I hope I'm not repeating someone-

Find a Moment that is Irreversible-

This was the assignement that inspired one of the winning photos in the NYT High School Photoraphy and Writing contest printed last week in the NYT magazine section. A girl carefully positioned a camera to take a self portrait as her eyebrow was pierced.

How about "Oxymoron: You know, like Jumbo Shrimp, Pretty Ugly, or Alone Together. Dictionary definition: A rhetorical figure in which incongruous or contradictory terms are combined, as in a deafening silence and a mournful optimist.

How about a challenge where there is a specific item that is chosen and it has to appear in all the photos...for example something I am sure we all have laying around, a cd.

Go wild or stay tame with your shot as long as the cd appears in the photo.

How about a challenge where you have to replicate a winning photo from the past. Give a choice of 10 or 12 to choose from. Keep them fairly simple and easy to setup, of course, for the more challenged like myself. I know, probably a bit cheesey, eh?

I still like the poetry idea that John proposed, "Aquainted With the Night" was a good one and would coordinate with a "Night Shots" challenge. Other poems like, "The Road Less Travelled" and "Mending Wall" by Frost might be nice.

Trios

Isles and Islands

Hobbies other than photography
Take a shot of your other favorite hobby!

I checked the Challenge archives to make sure I wasn't suggesting something that had already been done. I noticed that 4/quartets had been done but didn't see 2 or 3, maybe they aren't archived :) I'm new here, so apologies if I've suggested something old!

I haven't read through all of the suggestions below, so I apologize if I'm duplicating. This is an idea that was proposed several months ago already:

Place of Worship
Take a photo of or in a church, temple, mosque, or other place of worship.

Junk Box

Every body has a drawer or place that seems to catch those things that just can't be thrown away. Take a picture of your catch and be creative.

How about Photoshop tools

Say for "sharpen", you could do a whetstone or bench grinder, "cut" could be some shears or a knife, "crop" might be someone's agricultural field, stuff like that. It might be helpful to put a link on for the list of PS shortcuts (GORDON) so that those without PS could have knowledge of what all the tools are. I think the shortcut pages have just about all the tools. Just title the pictures after the tools so as not to confuse anyone voting.

Just a thought... Bob

feel free to submit your clone, or your first aid (healing) kits.

I heeded your warning Paul :) It was very warranted.

What about a seasonal challenge I realize that we have members in both hemispheres, but it would be an interesting look at this time of year all over the world.

Great idea, and I think we should do them in the same order that you listed them.

I like Setz's list also. It would be nice to have a string of challenges with no description. Some of these would be tough to do, but fun. Of course, I like a lot of the other ideas here, too. Looks like we've got a few months' worth of ideas here.

Just one addition to the list. A previous idea of mine. SILENCE.
