Wasn't aware that this was "Color Plastic Portraits" Holy McDoodle.

People, honestly, your models don't have to look like they just gave from Wax Museums R Us to look good. Even if you're going for a polished "magazine model" look, some of you just.. woah.. My Scene dolls have more skin texture.

This is just a personal opinion, and I think many people are very tired of hearing me voice them, but I don't give a flying..

Anyway. Ouch.

What can you do? People learned it works well here. Also if I may add, not just neatimage but when they do it and see how much they lost they try to bring something back with huuuge amount of sharpening. That makes it even more alien.

I always hear poeple talking about neat image, what is it? I don't have that. I agree some shots are best left without touching the skin, in some the texture adds character. I also seen some shots where some editing to the skin would have helped it. It just depends on the shot and mood I guess.

Seriously? You can't use neatimage in open challenges? I did not know that. heh. I don't enter open challenges anyway (effectively making me a non-challenge enterer), so it's all moot ;)

By the way.. I am in NO way advocating *never* using a smoothing program.. Pete knows I use them, and sometimes abuse them myself.. It just amazes me that it does so well even when it *is* horribly abused.

Still, I can't just be the "whattyagonnado" guy :) I have to bring it to the table. More enjoyable that way.

hehehehe

Same old story, same old song.

For the record, I used no NeatImage and won't unless my image needs it due to excessive noise.

Everyone here is so cool I can't stand it. I guess a lot of people here, myself included, are just re-hashing old ideas, processing techniques and generally dragging photography into the gutter while I guess the rest of you are just pushing the envelope of innovation and leaving everyone in your photographic wake.

I usually avoid the smoothness created by noise reduction, but in this case I probably didn't lower the opacity on that layer enough to bring some noise back in. Oh well, it's one shot and if it's too smooth I'm sure somebody will provide comments to help point that out.

Damn skippy.

Although I'm not entirely sure what kind of innovation super-plastic human beings are..
