The first one that took place last weekend Georgia GTG was so much fun for me I thought why the heck not start planning another one. Jennifer mentioned doing one in north Georgia somewhere. Well I am taking her up on that now. I was thinking maybe Fall colors would be a good time to GTG and we would all have enough time to plan it.
Well with the recent tornado going through and tearing up Helen, GA that is out of the question.
So here is a website Of North Georgia Fairs happenings in October. I have heard that the Apple Festival in Ellijay on October 8 & 9, 15 & 16 is a big thing but have never been. But I was thinking the end of October early November. But the dates are pretty much open as of now. I am planning on bringing my wife this time but not the kids as I can't shoot with them around. So I will need a date first, then we can get a list of people who will be there. Then a meeting place.

That's a great list James! Surely we can find something fun to do from that. The Apple festival you mentioned sounds fun, and some others that caught my attentiong were the Stock Dog competition and some of the old car shows. One thing as far as the date goes, as not to conflict with the North Carolia GTG on Oct. 21-23. I was going to try to make it to that one and I think KevinRiggs was thinking about it also. So if we could leave those dates open, that would be cool.

On a side note, did you see Miss Eden has joined the DPC ranks? :-)

Yeah funny thing about that. I am sure she will tell you. Now we need to get her $25 bucks for a membership.
Maybe I can make it to that NC GTG!!!! If I am allowed. I will go check out where it is.

I've been to the Ellijay apple festival. Its cool but the setting isn't the most scenic. There are probably numerous places nearby to shoot, however; this

was shot just down the road from Ellijay. There is also a state park just a few minutes out of Ellijay on top of the ridge; colors should be pretty good.

I saw that Eden is on and sent her a PM to welcome her.

I know MandyTurner wanted to have a Tennessee GTG but this may be a little far for her to travel.

I just have to dodge a few weddings and football games in Oct but I'm all kinds of excited about getting together for another session.

I've also shot some photos out at Prater's Mill but not during the festival. They usually have some civil war actors early in the mornings.

We also went to the Adairsville downtown festival. I got some candids (none online right now). There may be some good architectural shots around there, too.

I think it depends on what people want to photograph. Were you thinking of rolling some fall nature shots in with some of the festivals?

Yay, go GA-GTG!

That is an excellent idea Kevin. I am even up to meet in Tennesee if the need requires. We can also think about Ruby Falls and what else is around there.

I'm not entirely sure I'll be able to push it up to Tennessee yet, especially if I'm gonna be trekking over to N. Carolina for the other GTG. But I'll try my hardest if that turns out to be the plan. And if for some reason I can't make that one. I'm sure they'll be another. :-)

I'd love to get together with you guys again, but I can't make any of the dates mentioned! Another time ...

A North Georgia GTG sounds good. I haven't been up there in the fall in ages. I have no suggestions on location, though.

PS: I finally got off my butt and posted some shots from the GTG in my portfolio along with a couple from the convention. I also have about 50 shots from Dragon*Con posted over here.

Thought I might revive this thread since it looks like the NC GTG is postponed. Any interest?

I am still game for October sometime:

Here are the dates we have:

October 1st, 8th, 15th, 22nd, and the 29th.

Or we can do November?

Once we decide on a date then we can decide on where.............

Well, the 22nd and 29th probably won't work for me, birthday party for 1 son, getting ready for Halloween and birthday party for other son.... Whew!!

Probably any other day will work but to cement a date, how about the 15th? Maybe there'll be more color change by then.

Wondering if we should shoot for mid November?

That'll work too. My schedule is pretty flexible so whatever works for everyone else is good for me. :-)

ok so far we have:

October 15th

or

November 5, 12, 19.......The other one is Thanksgiving so I won't include that one.

Anyone else want to help us choose a date. I would say November 12th.

Ok the 12th it is......

Any suggestions on where to meet.....Helen I think is still rebuilding from that tornado.

This looks good for mountains ...

or these for waterfalls.

I think if Helen is in better shape they'll be wanting some tourists around; I think there's a winery around there that we could look into.
