I read a news story focused on the looters and the criminals/thugs that have surfaced in the aftermath. I am angered beyond words and need to vent...

//www.breitbart.com/news/na/D8CBHB4O7.html

Looting anything they can get their hands on (not just needed supplies)????
Shooting at helicopters and police officers????
Starting fires to hamper evacuation efforts????
Car jacking hospital supply trucks and other vehicles????

Why???

Efforts are now being shifted from trying to save lives to dealing with these creatures I won't even call animals because that would be insulting to animals. These creatures are truly the lowest form of any life. No fate is too harsh for these people.

I agree..It's disgusting..I've seen footage of looters leaving stores with televisions and stereos..What on earth do they think they'll do with them? There's no power, there's nobody they can sell them to(except for their own kind)..I could understand trying to get some food,or maybe a change of clothes..These animals(for lack of a better printable term)seem to be doing it just for the thrill...I wonder what they intend to do with all their ill-gotten goodies when the entire area is evacuated for reconstruction??

I heard a quote from one when asked "why???" responded "society's trampled on me for most of my life...now it's my turn"

*sick sick sick*

In truth, in America, most people truly have themselves to blame. We have public education. Even if it's lousy in urban settings. Asian immigrants have excelled in the same settings. Parental support is a big factor. But even then, orphans have succeeded. A lot is one's determination to achieve and not accept society as the sole cause of one's state. No, not everyone will be a bill gates. But very few need to be where they are. Myself included. I could be higher than where I am had I dedicated more effort. Not that I am complaining where I am.

But there is something sinisterly sick in shooting at ambulances with sniper rifles for sport. Something demonic...

The cops and soldiers in the area are in a quandary cause the only way they can stop these people is to start shooting. (They can't arrest them. All the prisons are underwater.) But I think unless it dies down soon the order will be to shoot and kill any civilian who fires upon security and/or aid units or other civilians.

:(

Humanity at it's best and humanity at it's worst. I guess you could say that events like this show the true form of a man.

Strange. Now that domestic "terrorism" is a reality within the U.S., I don't hear ANYONE saying "Let's try negotiating with those poor oppressed people and try to understand why they're robbing the homes of the evacuees, holding up medical supply trucks at gunpoint, pistol whipping women, shooting police and firemen, and shooting at evacuation helicopters."
Seems to somehow make a difference when the terrorists are right here, within our own borders, causing mayhem in our own cities, and against our own people.

The retail outlets are realistically going to write this stuff off. The looters are going to loot. Why are we re-directing a large part of law enforcement to stop the loss of physical things when the loss of life is what we need to be preventing. F*%K the stuff, HELP THE PEOPLE!

We arent walking in those shoes and taking water, food etc in this situation is understandable.

However, in certain american sub cultures it is acceptable to loot, steal, carjack, shoot automatic weapons, etc. All I can say is just listen to the music

They are just getting their "respect", "props" or whatever.

So what's a free TV or wardrobe

they are TRYING to help the people! the evacuation helicopters are being shot at, rescue boats are being shot at and jacked, volunteers with boats are not allowed to help because of the danger. the violence and lawless acts have to be stopped first before they can effectively and quickly rescue the victims.

Who needs terrorist – We have politicians

What is it three years and billions of taxpayer’s dollars planning of a coordinated effort in the event of a major terrorist attack? There has been complete chaos with the handling if this disaster.

Also being poor does not give you a right to shoot at people attempting to rescue other.

OOH? Save me..
My grandsons car died today and then 10 minutes ago my daughter calls up that she is stuck at BJ's because her car won't start. It feels like there is something in the air and something worse is lurking close by. All I can do is donate some money for those stuck in this horrible disaster. Two weeks ago a friends Mother went into a coma and still is in the hospital. Last week Rita's Mom died and we rushed out to Denver for the Funeral and when we were leaving the hurricane was battering New Orleans. After work I decided to get gas and went to BJ's, they were out or regular. Went to Shell up the street and there were lines, people jockeying for position, yelling and laughing. "It's going over $4.00 tomorrow" someone yelled.
Sometimes I feel like crawling into a dark corner and having a good cry.

Shoot back. General curfew. There was a mandatory evacuation. Helping the people would include shooting the looters on site. Hey, the alligators got to eat right?

Yeah, although it may seem harsh, there are now gangs of gun toting thugs looting everything.

How long before they get into the banks, museums........

Scary stuff. Something has to be done, thats for sure.

You do know it's standard operating procedure to secure an area before proceeding with rescue operations, right? Why should this situation be any different?

It certainly is disgusting. I say shoot them, too. I can't believe people are wasting their time stealing tv's and other things that they can't even use right now. They have no power, they have no homes...what do they think they are going to do with that stuff? I wish they'd put their energy towards saving some people instead!! I'm fine with 'looting' food, water, some clothes and shoes...it's about survival at this point...but tv's and guns? It's such a mess down there right now and I don't even mean the flooding...I mean the whole evacuation. People are dying because they have no necessities. It's so sad and so frustrating. I've been listening to NPR and other news all day long at work (through AOL's free XM radio) and it's so depressing listening to the firsthand accounts. Then I come home and watch it on tv. It's so sad to see these people holding their babies and saying their babies haven't eaten in days. One little boy, maybe 2-3yrs, is so out of it that his mother has a real hard time waking him up...which isn't a good sign. Ugh. I could go on...but I'm already off-topic. :-)

The Superdome, once they evacuate everybody from it, would make a PERFECT jail for the various looters, thugs, and other assorted filth.

How about including those rascals being held down in Cuba?

The kind of "music" which celebrates such things as sex slavery, violence, bigotry, bitch-slapping "ho's", etc.

Taking thugs, looters and rapers and dogs in a situation like this to jail costs money that could be better utilized. Shoot to kill!
