canons fire a pre-flash for proper exposure. I don't know if the HF-DC1 also fires a pre-flash, or just ignores the one from the canon body. The spec says it has 3 settings depending on the cameras aperature, but it doesn't seem to connect to the camera, so how does it know the cameras aperature (unles you manually set it, which I doubt)?
If it also fires a pre-flash, I'm thinking it could also be used as a rim or hair light in a regular EOS flash setup ... but, of course, I can find nothing.

Any idea if they work with the Olympus P&S cameras? the D-535/C-370 for example. I heard, that they fire a preflash or something, which prevents the use of a slave flash |
