Knee con seems to be the preferred pronunciation amongst pros, but I call them N eye con. I'd love to know what other people here think...

Of course you trade it for a Can-on.

WOOPS.

Did I say that? DANG IT.

I've never heard it any way other than "Nye-kon" and the lenses as "Nye-core" from pros or shop salesmen or company reps. Who knows, they could all be wrong.

Most of the time I say Knee con, but that's probably because of the fact that my first language is French. I would guess that the english prononciation would probably be n-eye-con.

I've heard most canon users pronounce it as ta-rash. ;) j/k (heck I'm one to talk, I'm using an oly-um-pus)

I rarely hear the "knee-con" pronunciation. I wonder if it's a US thang? Is "knee-con" a more common pronunciation in Europe/Asia?

Technically, it's a combination of Japanese words that are pronounced "Knee-con." But I've only heard Japanese people pronounce it that way. :-)

Interesting, when I've been in photographers' pits with pros, a huge amount of them pronounce it Knee con.

Seriously, I've never heard anything but N-eye-con (rhymes with icon, and I con-sider, and why con-tinue...)

Yep, I've only ever heard it as "Knee-Con". English and American are btw the only languages I know where an 'i' becomes "eye" and not "ee".

It's not N-eye-con and it's not Eye-Raq

My guess is you wont be arrested, fined, slapped, ridiculed or anything else by pronouncing it either way. Hey, we say toe-mate-toe and they say toe-maht-toe.

I suppose I just can't get past Paul Simon's immortalization of the brand in his pop song "Kodachrome"....I've got a N-igh-con camera, love to take a Fooooo-toe-graph....

Most folks in the UK pronounce it with an i as in Nick.

As a native Finnish I would pronounce it 'N-eye-con'. 'Knee-con' sounds weird. ;o
