Hi mates,

I'm a recent member of dpchallenge and I'd like to get your feedback on my freshly redesigned gallery. It is now linked to dpcprints.

Thanks,

Amazing website, one of the best Flash gallery designs I've come across. Lovely jazz guitar, I just wish it didn't keep changing every time I navigated to a different part of the website. You're well travelled, and I enjoyed your photos from all over the world. Welcome to DPC!

this is the only reason I stayed away from flash and those types of websites when I designed mine. Sure they look great and have class (i'm guessing here)...but I'm still waiting for the images to come up and I'm on a coorporate high speed line (T3?). Should it be this long?

...still waiting, maybe I need an update?

I didn't have a problem with the load time - 2 to 3 seconds on a wireless DSL. The navigation works well and the music provides a nice complement - now I doubly wish I knew flash! Very nice work.

I have a 128k link, and it was reasonably quick to load on mine.

I love your website design, did you do it or if not what company did it for you. beautiful pictures too.
I am looking to a website for my pics.

It was quick to load on my wireless DSL. I am impressed, done very nicely, easy to navigate but MAN! So very much on there.

What Macromedia programs did you use to create this?

Very nice! I like how you're using XML to load the images. Did you develop this yourself?
I have a personal pet peeve with loud background music but other than that I love the site.

Well designed site. It's fast and user-friendly.
I was clicking around and something barfed. Movie clips for the thumbnails and contact us started playing together.

Strange, the Flash engine is only 72KB and images should take just a few seconds. Try turning off the music, should be a bottleneck on your corporate line... On an ADSL from Italy (the site is in the States) it goes very fast (it's my line).

Thanks for your words.

Design, flash programming and photography are mine.

Thank you for your feedback.

Yes I developed it by myself. It's an engine I've worked on since the first version on... Now it's more complete.

Thanks,

S.

PS
I understand your concern on the music... I had to choose whether to put it automatically on or not, but I thought that 99% of the people would never swith it on (or search for a button). I'm working on a new splash screen with two Enter buttons. One with the music and one without). In the meanwhile, you can switch the music off (and it goes off automatically if the line is slow...).

Yes! There were a glitch. Shouldn't be there anymore.

Thanks,

I like you site the setup is really good, in your tulip gallery almost all the photos have sensor dust on them just mentioning it, but a really nice site.

your site is just incredible! well done! i found it to be easy to navigate through. great design!

The design looks good, but there are some things I don't like. Firstly, it uses a javascript popup to open the website instead of loading the website in the current window. Because it's javascript my popup blocker needs to be turned off completely instead of the normal holding of the shift key. This is rather annoying and i'll even not visit sites that use this to avoid turning off the popup blocker as simple as it might be to do. Also the load times are terrible. By terrible i mean more than 10-15 seconds on a cable modem. Maybe it's due to heavy traffic, but it's not good to have broadband users wait this long, imagine what a dialup user is going through.

There is some very nice work inside though.

Molto piacevole! Just beautiful and the so much class. Thank you for sharing with us.

edit: FYI, I'm on DSl (768 tops) and everything worked fine. Only a few seconds at most to load even when I was scrolling through photos at a good clip. Music lagged maybe three seconds befroe starting. I would think there is something else going on for those who have had problem with speed.

I didn't even know there was music because I don't have my headphones on... Music on websites = bad imo.

Do you do web graphic design for other people that yourself? If so how much could a page like this cost? for a fellow dpc I mean?

Thank you very much. I didn't realize I posted an old version of this collection. Now it's OK. Thanks again.

Hi,

understand your concern about popup. About the loading time, it should be a problem on your side, because the amount of data is not huge (and optimized in each and every part). It works very fast on an ADSL line from Italy.

Wow. Your layout is phenomenal! I’m not a professional at Flash/Web Design (I teach myself as I get an idea to build—see my site below) but my experience tells me that a great deal of time and effort went into this design. I mean, everything is animated! I’m very impressed. My pop-up blocker (built into IE) worked fine with your site when I held ‘ctrl’. If I could ask for one thing, it would be that the pop-up open in a window the size of the Flash movie. Aside from the great motion and attention to detail, the organization is wonderful, too.

Just flash and actionscript development.

Thanks for your words.
