I babysat for my 4 grandkids all this week, while their parents were on a cruise. They are great kids and I'm crazy about them!

Bad news is someone, no one knows who, dropped my camera on the tile floor and it cracked. :-( It seems to be working but the crack is very large with a space, and the case is loose now. I know it isn't really gonna hold up at the rate I use it. I am heart-broken! I presently take about 400 or more pictures a week with my Kodak DC 4800 digital. I can't buy a new camera!
So anyway I am just gonna try to glue it and hope for the best. The thing is digital is so much more affordable since there is no need to buy film, and I AM ADDICTED to dpchallenge!
Well just wanted to rant a bit. I'm fine really, just a little bummed.
I know you all can relate to the bummer that this is. I knew I'd eventually be looking for a better camera but right now I learned to be content...lol
Everybody send me some hugs please...lol

Grayce, that's awful news! I sure hope it holds together for a while at least. Your recent work that I have seen here and elsewhere has been marvelous and it would be a terrible shame to lose that momentum.

Here's hoping for you!

Grace, did you submit your picture for this week?

O' Gracious. Tragic accident. So sorry for you. ;*(
I think you should call your insurance agent, check your home owners and get a new camera. :*)
I have a rider on my insurance just in case!!
Good luck.

So sorry Grayce!
Yesterday you saw my snowy home and talked about Adirondack Forest. Take out some old photos, lean back and remember. And perhaps you can forget your terrible situation for a while.

Sorry to hear about your camera...had a similar experience a few years back only one of our dogs tore it out of my hands. It cracked the case and I glued it and it still works. Good luck and hugs.

Sorry to hear that. I agree with justine. If your deductable is 250 or less then it would be worth it to pay that and get a new one. Hope you work something out.

((((((Grayce))))))

Know how you feel. Did my Kodak in by using the wrong battery. I raided my emergency savings to get the Olympic. *sigh* wish you luck.

Just a thought... there is currently a camera on eBay for $270. I buy and sell on eBay a lot with nothing but good results. Here is the link:

Yeesh... that definitely falls into the Major Bummer department.

I just got my new Nikon D100 last week, and on the first clear night I was all excited about trying to get a good shot of the moon. So I stood out in the dark & tried to swap lenses on the camera. I was putting my 300mm lens on, and it turned out I was inserting it upside-down... and somehow it got stuck!

I happened to see my wedding photographer neighbor across the street, so I asked for his help to no avail. Thankfully, my fellow DPC neighbor (this side of the street) was able to wiggle it off after a few tense moments. I promised to help them mop the sweat off of their floors that I had produced in a very short time... :)

Hey everybody! I'm back home now, and just got to read all the responses. Wow...you are all soooo wonderful to sympathizee with me. Believe it or not it was a comfort. Many thanks.
So far the camera is working, however Justine, I will look into my homeowner's insurance. So glad you mentioned it. I hadn't thought of it. I'm thinking maybe even my daughter's ho ins.
Dimitrial...yes I did submit. Were you gonna submit one on my behalf? lol...lol
Jak, I wouldn't, couldn't give up...lose my momentum. I'm HOOKED! :-)
Beth thanks for the hugs girlfriend!
Doug...about eBay..actually i sold stuff steadily on there for about 2 or 3 years, and bought 2 cameras there already. I've had wonderful experiences, well over 500 transactions. (user name Gracious) Hubby lost his job after 911. His company took a big hit. Everything deteriorated swiftly from there and we are still not on our feet. So buying one will have to wait. BUT...things have a way of working out. They always do somehow.
Alan...you had me laughing over your little incident. LOL Man we are all nuts here...totally addicted and get freaked out if something happens to our cameras.
Justine, Sonja, Camelot, Carsten and all of you...Thank you all for your warmth. (((Hugs))) to you all!

an automotive epoxy like jb-weld would be better than glue

Robert, You're right! I have much to thank God for, and I do. Eyes and a camera, and so much more, including compassion for those less fortunate. Actually compassion for those more fortunate too. Hard times, and there have been many, can make one bitter or better. I believe I fall into the latter group. :-)
Robert, thanks for the reminder. God bless you. I sincerely hope things improve for you.
LOL...I'm far from being a broken down old lady....lol I'm 51, and my handicaps have nothing to do with age, rather a disorder I've had all my life.
I promise to take your advice and keep shooting. :-)

Gracious, I dropped (knocked off my desk actually) the company digital camera, a Kodak but I don't remember the model. Anyway, it broke the door for the batteries. I took it to a camera repair shop and it cost $43.00 to fix. That's really good considering it would have been several hundred to replace. See if you can have it repaired. All might not be lost. :)
