hi guys!

I have right now like 750 to buy the BODY of D70. I have two lenses that i can use while i save to buy a nikon lense. For months i have saved every penny. Should I buy this camera or save to buy the canon 20D.
I can wait a couple of months....i think i can do it if 20D is worth it.

Thanks.

Both are very good cameras. Depends on what kind of shooting you want to do. 20D is much better for sports action shooting with it's 5 FPS. Having two lenses is a big plus for the D70.

I was in the same situation as you -- I had the money for the 20d (actually, I had two lenses for the 20d also) or I could sell the 300d body and get the d70 -- I went for the latter, obviously.

You'll see, it depends greatly on what you want to shoot -- both will yield great results, and 6 megapixels to 8 is nothing -- so don't let that be a deciding factor.

In the end, ultimately, I found some of the features of the d70 to be more my cup of tea, and worth the extra money and hassle of selling and buying new lenses. Good luck.

I'd save even more and get the upcoming dSLR from Canon.

Something to be released within the next 2 years, but speculation says possibly even in august to before christmas. However, who knows what it'll be... its just like I said, speculation.

Either camera is great.

The 20D is definitely a better camera, but the differences aren't huge and the D70 is very capable. If you already have Nikon lenses, there's no compelling reason to switch platforms. You might also consider the new Nikon D50 for $668 shipped.

Reading various forums, there are a few theories. They say that Canon tends to follow a 18month cycles. The 20D is now 12 months old. I hear that Canon's marketing meeting is going on now to introduce any possible models.
First theory is an update or a replacement to the 20D. If you like the 20D, then there will be a rebate right before the replacement comes out. That way you save some money when you buy the 20D.
Second, it seems like the 1DMII came out, then 20D, based somewhat on the 1D MII (8mp sensor concept, I know they have different sensors, but the Digic II is same), then the Rebel XT, based on the 20D. So naturally, the next in line is a new 1DMIII.
The third theory is a "tweener" aka kirbic dream machine he he. Along the digital lines of a 35mm EOV 3, aka 3D, to sell about two grand? Hence between a 1D and a 20D.
These are all speculations of course, but I'd be surprised if something new or discounts/rebates don't come up for the x-mas season.

As for me, I'm looking for an updated 20D or to get the 20D with a rebate as a primary camera at the end of this year/new year. I like the cropped sensor, so I've no desire for a 1D MIII.

Seeing as you have a Nikon, you should be saving up for the upcoming D200 or even the D2X, now that camera is da bomb.
I wihs Canon would make a camera like the D2X.

That's good news...I'm going to be upgrading in the next 6 months. At the very least a 20d, but I've been thinking of plunging into 1dII world as I get ready to go to school and do lots of freelance work on the side. If a tweener comes out, it'll have my name all over it (or it will drop the 1dII used price enough for me to buy one of those).

Either way, my timing to upgrade will be perfect...
