Do ya think it would be more appropriate to post outtakes after the voting period ends? How would you like it if you were new here and you have a shot in the challenge that is bombing. You come to this thread and there are shots here that others didn't bother to enter that are better than the shot you built up the courage to enter. I'd be pretty damned discouraged...

no more flame wars please. Just don't post these before voting begins, ever.

there are shots everywhere i look that are better than mine and it doesn't bother me at all; in fact, that's what keeps me motivated.

I have to agree with TooCool.

Don't believe in flame wars... Also don't believe outtakes should be shown before the challenge is over. It's humbling enough to see where you finish sometimes without seeing what people didn't bother to enter before it's over...

One reason that I haven't entered in awhile.

this is totally my view on this matter
(no im not forced here..he)
i think ure approach needs some adjustement if that is the case and better images lead to discouragement
in a way i know what u are saying and maybe its meant as a kind gesture
TooCool but this theory leads to nothing and is not kool at all
we are all here to learn..rightt?

I don't think it's an issue seeing better images as outakes, who cares, but it can be an issue when you have an image in a challenge that is very unique and then someone posts an outake that is similiar and claim that it is something they thought of but did not enter for whatever reason.

This seems to be taking the gloss of your image and sometimes it appears that people see shots in a challenge and try to replicate or better them and post them as "outtakes".

I can't see what the issue is to just wait till voting is complete.

waah-waah. Geez! Look at the pics if you want to, if you don't then don't. Some people may post outtakes to "show off" their photo - it's human nature. This site thrives on getting/giving feedback and learning/educating.

Photography should be fun. Let's everybody grow up and take these threads for what they are. Smile and enjoy the ride. ;^)

Here is one of my outtakes:

dahkota, I quite like your outtake. If this was merely your 2nd choice I very much look forward too seeing your submission!

I don't see the problem with posting outtakes. This site is here for growth and learning. If you don't want to see the outtakes, don't look at them. But it's unfair to those who want to see them to be told, "Don't post." It defeates the purpose of DPC. This isn't kindergarten, we're all big-people here, so lets just handle this like adults. Agree to disagree and leave it at that.
