I'm having trouble importing Nikon RAW (NEF) files into PhotoShop CS2 and CS.
I know there is a plugin I can download. I got it and put it in my Plugins folder. But it still can't open. Any Suggestions?

AFAIK, the D70s is still not supported by ACR 3.1, so the only solution for now is to use the Nikon software, or use the free version of RAW Shooter Essentials.
You should also be aware that even when ACR is updated to support the D70s, you still may experience less-than-perfect interpretation of the as-shot white balance, which will require you to manually tweak a bit more. That's because of the ongoing spat between Adobe and Nikon over Nikon's "encryption" of the WB data.

Is it the Plugins folder or the File Formats folder you copied to?
You need to use File Formats folder.
If you have installed Nikon Software, there will be 2 files (I think) from Nikon - you need to remove them too. |

| My CS can read the D70s files. Install the software that came with the D70s, ie Picture Project and Nikon Photoshare and the nef files can be opened in Photoshop. Older versions of the Picture Project and Photoshare (of the Nikon D70) may not open the nef file of the D70s |

Also I'm sure it doesn't help matters that Nikon is now collaborating with the evil giant, Microsoft. |

I use Adobe Photoshop CS2 with the RAW update to open Nikon .NEF files from my Nikon CP8800. Is the format of the D70 files different to those produced by the 8800?

| Jeez - why would Nikon working with MS to mkae their RAW files transparent to the operating system be a bad thing? Maybe Canon should get on board and do the same. It is best for all of us to have these files be integrated with the OS on both Windows and MAC. |

Actually, you don't have to use the Nikon software. All you need is the camera raw 3.1 update from adobe.com. That is all that I did and it works fine. You just have to make sure that you put it in the right plug-ins folder.

I have CS2 with the 3.1 ACR update, but don't have a D70s file available to test right at the moment. My recollection was that I could not open them with 3.1, but if you're doing so, then I must be mistaken (certainly not the first time, LOL). In any case, it is a good idea to update ACR, since Adobe does make other improvements as well as updating the cams available.
