Hi ! ! !

some guys dont like the online service of ritz. but I found a great deal (i think so). I'll be saving around $300 :)
I really need your advice. If you expert friends say YES, i'll buy it.
What comment you have for the lenses?

//cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7532443601&category=48541&rd=1

they also sell the XT.

i think D70 is better than XT right?

THANKS :)

Yes, you're correct.

Although, the XT with good glass will out-perform the d70 with the glass in the auction.

I'd recommend the d70 outfit -- with Nikon 18-70 f/3.5-4.5 lens -- it's seriously a great lens. The outfit can be had for around 1100 or so.

Then, save up for a nice, fast, sharp good telephoto zoom like the nikon 70-200 f/2.8 or 80-200 f/2.8 -- or even the sigma 70-200 f/2.8.

I bought my D 70 at Ritz, and they certainly did me right. SO I dont think you have any worries three.

As far as the Canon Vs. Nikon thing.......that debate will never end.

I've ordered filters from them. No problems.

Get D70 but with Nikon glass. Don't buy cheap glass. It's just not worth it. If you don't have money for body and good lens... wait a little and save up.

Isn't this where someone inevitably post links to reviews by the Tom Cruise of Camera equipment?

Come on guys...save the canon vs. nikon debate for another thread -- If you have something valuable to add, then add it, otherwise shut up. Everyone knows the d70 is a step or two up from the xt, despite the negligible 2mp difference -- that's nothing in the terms of print sizes -- The XT MIGHT be comparable to the d50...but in all seriousness, come on! ;)

As an about-to-be 20D owner using a loaner 300D, I find myself grinning wickedly and wondering if I should join the Canon v Nikon debate as a new poselytizer, jejeje™

Nah, I don't have it in me... Even though I researched this for months and decided the Canon was the better option of the two, for me...

You just added to the debate while contradicting yourself!

and also. "shut up" is a poor choice of words.

I used Ritz to buy both of my cameras (300D and 20D). I didn't purchase online, but got it directly from the store... here's why:

1) At the time of purchase, the online prices of Adorama, B&H and others, were the same as Ritz. Guess the cameras were in high demand when I bought them!

2) But they also put me on a 12-month same as cash deal. I then divide the cost by 12 and pay the minimum payment to the credit card and the rest goes into my bank account and accumulates until 12 months are up. Then I pay it off with no interest paid to them.

3) And I also bought their extended warantee which, they tell me, means I could drop the camera in the lake, run over it with my car, or even break it on purpose and it would still be covered.

So it cost me a little more. But the payments are fixed and interest free.

Then I buy all the extras (lenses, filters, flashes, etc) at Adorama because accessories can cost a _lot_ less online.

So I save money where I can, I defer payments where I can, and I get a good warantee which helps ease my mind as I'm out doing a lot of paid photo shoots.
