for this challenge, we should suspend editing rules since we all might be the one, and therefore able to move beyond the realm of the image captured . . .

"photograph your interpretation of 'the matrix'."

Have you seen the movie?
05/14/2003 12:53:19 AM · #5
nope just downloaded it

Haven't seen the movie and not planning to, either. A break from submitting? :)
05/14/2003 01:03:52 AM · #7
@Journey - I got an unanticipated break - I tried to submit secondary colors with 4 mins to go - and the site rejected me, then I got 'calculating results' second time - so I'm out, I guess.

well mav, you can still post your shot for a critique in a forum thread or you can send it to me. Like to see what you came up with ;)

I'm really clueless about this matrix thing; shouldn't have complained about the never ending color challenges.

I did - it's called Challenge Bork.

I'm gonna save your glass shot for tomorrow...*going to look now*

Ahh! It's a movie! That explains a lot...

Is it worth renting?
05/14/2003 01:24:18 AM · #11
yes.

Matrix is a sci-fi movie. Takes place in the future and depicts Earth as a world where "computers" have basically taken over and live off of the people.... the people "feed" the "computers" (the Matrix) and in turn the computers keep the "people" happy by creating a perfect (dream) world for them.

The heros of the movie manage to break free of the "Matrix" and it's evil grip, and thrawt the evil people who control the Matrix. The original is a very good movie if you like sci-fi mixed with great special effects and action. If you prefer profound love stories or comedies (which I like most of the time), then don't see it. But I'm DEFINTELY going to see the new one "Matrix: Reloaded". :)

To me it isn't even worth the sequal...hmmm I'm thinking a picture of someone sleeping is a good interpretation, wasn't my kind of movie...couldn't we do a Gone with the Wind challenge it appeals to both men and women...women the love scenes and men the war stuff...but gesh the matrix...hmmmm could always photography something black there was a lot of black leather jackets as i recall and sunglasses too

Is this a challenge on the movie or the concept of the matrix that's presented in the movie?

Not all women dig love scenes and I bet not all men dig war stuff either. I'm guessing there are just as many people who wouldn't be interested in a Gone With the Wind challenge as there are with the Matrix.

Yeah but it has a wider appeal than the matrix. I think I would rather do an intruptation of Saving Private Ryan than the matrix....at least I didn't fall asleep watching it...

Hmm, wow, I've seen the movie a bunch of times and I still have no (realistic) idea of what to photograph.

Oh I know! I'll have someone jump on a bed wearing black leather and photograph them doing a karate kick in mid-air! LOL, nevermind.

mk: I totally agree with you, and I for one am TOTALLY JAZZED about this challenge. I have half a dozen passible ideas on it already.

Yoshida: I think both interpretations you presented are valid representations of the challenge!

One word for what I saw of the matrix...VIOLENCE....yeap thats it now we can promote VIOLENCE!

Right on!
05/14/2003 02:13:31 AM · #21
Considering how strict voters are on meeting the challenge, how on earth will ppl vote when they haven't seen the movie? I'd like to think that those folks just won't vote or that everyone will be really open about meeting the challenge, but I know that's just wishful thinking around here.

i try and watch both types of movies equally---but the matrix rates in the top 10 of my 100 favorite movies, while gone with the wind is, um, off the charts.

The Matrix has you :)

I shouldn't be complaining i didn't think a relgious challenge was right here but geesh what an extreme instead of relgion we get lets promote violence week here at DPChallenge...time to go find the local street dealer in his black leather and sunglasses and see if he will let me photograph him before he murders me....

I'm really excited about this challenge! I was a little worried it was going to be something like "colors that don't really go together" or something else color-related. This one's wide open. Love the movie, hate it, never seen it, you can still experiment with concepts that illustrate how the idea makes you feel. There's no real wrong answer. I've got a few ideas brewing... go to www.imdb.com and look it up if you haven't ever seen it.

(And I thought there were definitely romantic parts, and some VERY funny lines, even though the primary focus was action.)
