We all love honest critiques. Now critique yourself. In photography, what is your best strength and your biggest weakness? Is it composition, ideas, post editing, colors, boldness, etc?

I'll start:

I think my biggest strength is in composition, followed by colors. I think I've learned how to get some deep rich tones from my camera and processing. Before I ever knew about the rule of thirds, I just knew what I liked and have built upon that for composition.

My biggest weakness is in focusing. Perhaps I need to learn more in regards to aperature and shutter speeds or something...not quite sure. Not bad everytime or anything, but often enough that I find it frustrating! I get some really great composition or lighting, but lousy clarity and there's really very little that can be done for salvaging that.

I think composition is my biggest strength too. I neem to have a natural ability to frame things in a pleasing way without really thinking about it.

My biggest weakness is lack of patience. I never really go that extra mile to get exactly what I want, and normally end up stuck in an "oh, that'll do" mentality. I should really get out of that!

I don't have any strength...I'm just a snapshooter!

My Strength:
- My ability to visualize something that will generally be pleasant to the average viewer.

My weakness:
- Bringing my best visualizations to fruition on a regular basis without coming off as a weirdo or simply missing the mark.

My strengths: Composition (usually), catching decent candids, and post-processing (when I'm lucky).

My weaknesses: Exposure, exposure, and exposure. Did I mention exposure?

At least exposure is something that is usually a relatively easy PS fix. Not always, but I find that is one area that can be saved! :)

My biggest weakness is my perverse focusing on what I want to do while ignoring everything else. At first this sounds good but if you examine it you will find a great loss of good material. In short, if I am pursuing one mode, good images in other modes are intentionally ignored because I refuse to refocus on these other modes until I am in the mood for them. Count the images I have lost. My port does not tell my story in this field because I love all styles and devote the time I choose for them. There is so much to be done...

strength - being fascinated by my subjects, no matter what they are
weakness - being fascinated by my subjects, no matter what they are

For example, a few weeks ago (before the MACRO challenge) I became fascinated with photographing bees in flight. 100's of frames later, I'm a little better at it but everything else I missed while only seeing the bees...

Strength: Knowing what I like when I see it

Weakness: Seeing it in the first place, not that is

I think I have a pretty good eye - I tend to see things where others might not.

My post processing skills remain somewhat rudimentry, which is obviously something I need to work pretty hard on.

I'll second that.

Well I have a good eye for detail which leads me into macro photography. I've been told my best shots are macro but never get the opportunity to submit until just now with the macroV challenge. I was pleased with my result but it's the middle of winter here in Australia and there's no little critters I could get my hands on ......darn !
I guess composition too would be a strength. One weakness I have would be not getting out there more often experimenting !

my greatest stength is my willingness and desire to learn and how fast i learn thoes lessons and remember them.
my greatest weakness is lighting, which i have been seriously working on learning. i have improved a great deal but i still have a lot to learn about all aspects of photography.

I would like to think that my strength is capturing the beauty in the things we see around us everyday.

My biggest weakness, as least in the dpc context, is that my images rarely have any "Wow" factor.

I was once told by a psychic my strength is my greatest weakness.

My strength has to be creativity. There's only so many times you can get your butt kicked by kiwiness before reaching the obvious conclusion... concept is king. I don't usually have panoramic landscapes, vivid sunsets or stunning portrait models handy, so I try to come up with an original idea and make the most of it.

My weakness would be lighting, but I'm working on it. I've had several shots claw their way to the top on creativity alone despite some pretty lousy lighting, but I'm starting to get the idea (even if it doesn't always show). If I ever manage to get lighting and creativity together in the same frame, I might have a shot at a *gasp* eight (I can dream, anyway).

Then I can work on that other weakness... restraint. I usually know darn well when a shot is going to bomb, but I submit anyway, lured by the sweet, irresistible call of the update button.

I think composition is my weakpoint right now. I have a pretty good understanding of the technology tho.

well i got bored and checked the price of all the gear you have and put the lowest price and that added up to over $13,000 and it was much more when you got it all so your one hell of a prepared snapshooter! i can't stop drooling

I do have that same problem as well! :)

I think my strength is spotting, for want of a better word... I usually notice and observe quite well.
My biggest weakness is set-up shots and lighting. And also being careless with camera parameters... many good shots have come to naught because I didn't push the ISO down from 1600 after shooting at night.. and so on.

sometimes I start thinking that I go nuts:) it's when I start seeing everything on 20*30prints:))
