Does anyone know if there's a way to put a spotter scope on a digital camera (not a DSLR) & have it work properly?
We've got a Bushnell Natureview 15-45x60 spotter scope that we occasionally use with our 35mm Minolta, but I can't seem to find any specs or info that will tell me if there's an adapter for digital cams - just 35mm's.
Does anyone know if spotter scopes will even work with a digital camers?

Thanks for any help I may get,
Sara

Surely the point of using a spotting scope with a camera is to use it AS a lens, so you get an adaptor to fit it to your camera's lens mount (stop me if i'm mistaken here)

So presumably with a fixed-lens point&shoot you couldn't use it anyway... although you could just try putting the lens up against the eyepiece of the scope, might have difficulty focusing though and your results would be a bit unpredictable. Might work if your lens' aperture and front glass is small enough.

They most certainly will. You might start here for some info, or google "digiscoping."

The technique is called "eyepiece projection" and it surely does work with fixed-lens cams. Adapters are available for some cams. All depends on the cam and scope.

Ah i see... i've seen this sort of thing done before but only with the scope actually mounted as a lens :)

I am sure it will work as well...Just last week I photographed the full moon with my Sony CyberShot...through my 7X50 binoculars....It takes a litte trial and error but works and will work better with some time to work out some of the pyshical problems.

A good friend of mine is a bird digiscoper and does all his work with a Coolpix 995 and a Swarofski spotting scope. Check him out.

A collegue of mine as a SONY digital camera (not sure what the make is) and he uses spotting scopes and even telescopes, it seems that most scope manufacturers makes mounting devies for cameras.
