Playing rugby, drinking like a fish, and trying to figure out why algebra was important. I'm wishing now I'd spent more time on algebra and less on the pitch and in the pub.

Shooting B&W and doing my own darkroom work for the school paper. (It was only natural as we still had a B&W TV at home.)

I could ride my (10-speed) bike anywhere I wanted at nearly any hour of the day and ofte did so to take pictures in the swamp behind the school.

Personal Computers didn't exist for all practical purposes...my Dad bought a Comodore 64 (?) before I left home a few years later. (And here's a screecher: playing Tanks on a home Atari was the height of decadence!)

Sounds ALOT like me, was a candy stiper until I was old enough to get a paying gig, then worked at Rally's (fast food), dated a college boy, wanted to be a dancer but was listening to English Beat, Joy Division, Madness and NOT on an 8-track ... and yeah, I'm old too. :-P

I was going to high school part time, working full time, and taking care of my newborn son...yep, I started early, but he's 11 years old now and one of my great joys (besides the other 2 kids..lol). That was about it... boring huh?

Skateboarding...Listening to punk, working at Taco Bell, dating a girl who worked at Del Taco, getting older guys to buy us beer, building halfpipes with "borrowed" lumber.

Let's see, 1961.... October 1961... Living in Redondo Beach watching the birth of surf culture... Hodads, surf bunnies, Beach Boys, hang 10, stuff like that. Wasn't a surfer myself, but the whole school was obsessed with it. On the outside looking in. Writing poems. Being a geek, I guess...

Like the reflected patterns
of a thousand brass trumpets
my mind struggles,
for all i want
is to create
and if so
i will die
knowing i lived
a life of fullness,

THAT's circa 1961...

blush.

Growing my hair to my butt, smoking pot, skip classes, getting drunk, experimenting with other drugs, finding out what the birds and the bees were.

Being the only boy with four sisters kind of made me an ass. I did that, and been there, and am lucky that I am alive today.

The only thing I miss is my long beautiful hair, shining, gleaming, sheaning, flaxen, waxen.....

That was the year I changed schools and had to catch up on four years of Latin in three months. My tutor collected art and infected me with a passion for the arts which stayed me for the rest of my life. He (the tutor) remains one of the most remarkable people I have ever met.

Other than this, my mind ran away with my heart. I do remember more than her name...

Celebrating the bicentennial, playing baseball and soccer, getting turned down by girls (left & right)....

Watching Chevy Chase and Dan Akroyd on Saturday Night Live.

It was my first year out of school. Had about 5 different jobs, grew my hair long, wich made me a target for all the Skinheads that were at their peak around that time, took lots of drugs and had no interest in photography, that came later.

Cheerleader, worked at Hardees (hated my boss), had my first and only art exhibit at the local college (thought I was going to be the next big thing), made sneaking out of the house an artform, quit being a band nerd (found out that was a social handicap), and my most famous line..."Where's the PARTY?" Most embarrassing memory... loved Vanilla Ice.

I was caddying for grumpy old dudes and getting yelled at/running from cops for skateboarding everywhere i wasn't supposed to. Oh sometimes I would be just carrying my skateboard and getting yelled at too. Sometimes that still happens to me. No more caddying though.

running around with those 110 film cameras taking photos of every cat and dog in the neighborhood.... just realizing I still do the same, only with a digital camera ;o)

Dug up a couple morefrom my teen days. The first pic I think I just turned 14 and the second pic I was 16. So, riding motorcycles in illegal places, camping and drinking Coors probably covers those 2 years pretty well.
