Well, this has been an exciting week for me, first of all let me say that I have been a stay-at-home mom for the past four years so the decision to start working was a difficult one, which I went back and forth with, but my husband recently started a auto shop and recently told me that until things really pick up it would be a good idea for me to get a job, well, recently there was a ad in the paper for a typesette at the local paper (a really small paper) anyway and before my husband even told me that he may want me to get a job I had seen that ad, and thought to myself if I was going to get a job, that is the one I would want, well there were like three weeks between when I first saw the ad and when my husband mentioned my getting a job, anyway I called to see if the job was still available and happily it was, so I went it this Monday to apply and was sure to mention my interest in photography etc. He originaly told me they would let me know by Wednesday, Wednesday came and went no call, Thursday I called them, they hadn't made a decision yet, so I was starting to lose hope, anyway this morning I got the call to come in, so I get there, he told me they'd like to hire me for the typesetter position etc....now here's the best part, he told me that they have a reporter leaving in August and he'd like to make me a photographer/reporter at that time and try to turn me into a writer as well, this is what I was hoping for all along, that by possibly getting my foot in the door it could lead to photography possibilities down the road, but never did I think this soon. So I am way excited, it's part-time so I still get to spend the majority of the time with my kids, and when I am working it will be doing something that I enjoy, I start Monday so wish me luck and am soooo excited!!!

Sorry for the long post, just had to share my excitement! :-)

Congrats Shannon! I managed to get a job much liek yours and it turned into five years between three papers. It can be really really hard at times but I never once regretted it.

Great! I did typesetting for a local printer 6-7 years, as an active sideline. If you need any down-and-dirty tips, you know where to find me :-)
