Please lets not have a 100 entries focused around film and film cameras.

Personally I'll be voting for the more creative interpretations (e.g. A Motocycle parked in front of a hitching post!)

Could be a good challenge....

haha- the exception is that you can't use people. I wonder who would actually model for such a photo!?

You can always do a self-portrait.

Give up now. Your puny pictures can not hold a candle to what I have in store. Save yourself embarassment and just let this challenge go.

Walk away,
Just walk away...

Hey!! You better not turn this into the obsolete smack-talk thread! And we all know that my photo is going to take yours down, so you can just walk away.

You must be Slipstrike in disguise to be trashtalking like that.
What happened? The Slipstrike ego has become obsolete?

Phonograph pictures will outnumber cameras and film.

What. The. Crap.

No clue what you're talking about. :-|

Thinking of how I can photograph common sense. It seems to have been phased out of all aspects of society.

Obsolete things were being named. My random sense of humor decided to add something to the list and I happened to be eating some cheese at the time.

The Church?! Not obsolete in our neck of the woods - still building them at a pretty good clip. ;^)

More of the obsolete that we could attempt to take photos of-

Michael Jackson trials, relationships between celebrities, syphilis in palm springs, infomercials at 2am. Oh...wait..never mind.

Oh my, tell me I'm not on someone's 'Enemies' list!

Okay, I've got a question about the "no people alive or dead" stipulation--

I interpret this to mean that you can't take a photo of someone as the subject (e.g. person's dead now they're obsolete, or picture of an adult as an obsolete child, that kind of thing.)

What about a person doing a task that is now obsolete? What about a person's hand or foot or something like that? I'd hate to submit a photo and have it be disqualified because it had someone's foot in it.

Reading through this, it sounds so silly, but it's a real concern! Any thoughts?
Thanks,
Jeannel

I think your interpretation is correct - people can't be the main subject, but a person can be in the photo. JMO

What about an activity, a profession, or a trade that's now obsolete? For example, would it violate the "no people" rule if I photographed something that indicated "milkman" (in the U.S., when I was a kid, the milkman would deliver bottles of milk to our door several time a week), - without actually having a milkman in the photo?

[Note: I obviously won't produce this image since I opened my big mouth to discuss it here...]

I can't think of anything! I thought about a checkbook, because I really don't use it. Then I thought about eating some brownies and I gave up.

Actually, I find this challenge to be difficult, what with this day and age of recycling and reuse. Let the best photograph win! Or mine....
