I would like to be able to see my score tho... :(

I'm interested in why you don't feel the need for feedback, John.

If it would be possible, I sure would like to be able to sort my favorite photos by photographer... Not a biggie, but if possible, it'd be real nice :)

On the photo's page, after results are posted, have the link to the commenter's name pop straight to a PM to that person, rather than to their profile page.
It would make it far easier to correspond about the comments, one of the most useful aspects of this site. Include their original comment and a link to the image (or embed a thumbnail?) in the PM form.
Or maybe provide a separate "Reply To Comment" link if you don't want to re-code the original link.

I am an idiot! I didn't know you could view current comments and just found out you can so I withdraw my one wish from earlier. Here's my new wish. I would like to vote on the which challenge we have next. Just like the weekly pole. Give us three ideas and the top one wins. Also how about seeing the results of last weeks pole question. Or is that another part of the web site I missed?

i don't know ... i like to check out the profiles of people that leave me comments ... and then maybe PM them. i guess i don't PM so much since i often just leave comments on my photo after voting so that everyone who is interested can see them (if anyone is interested that is, otherwise they are easy to ignore, too ;)

One feature? Please show the photo details during voting!

If you would ask for a second (you didn't but I'll tell you anyway ;-)) that would be the following: When voting have a checkbox to "monitor" a photo. Whenever a new comment is made on a photo I monitor I get an email. That way I'll never miss a comment of the photographer where he/she explains the photo after the challenge. Photos I comment on can be monitored automatically. My own photos are also automatically monitored by me. That way people could also discuss a certain photo directly via the comments on this photo without having to check back on each of them regularly.

I do that once or twice to see who they are, but to make every comment require a two-step process is silly and cumbersome, especially after a few challenges an you know the commenter. Like I said, just providing a separate "reply to comment" button would be swell...

A simple thing, I think. When posting in the forums, text does not wrap around as you type it, like it does when commenting on photos. It makes it hard to see everything you've typed.

I've noticed this happens with Netscape, but is ok with IE... I've started using IE for DPC and Netscape for everything else. Not sure why this happens.

Member News & Events Forum Section

We seem to have a lot of activity in the Rant/Rave section when site participants receive recognition for their work on various other sites and locations... maybe a special forum for this topic?

Seeing all a users photos on their profile page, with the title and challenge along side it.

You could have a page that lists a group of general comments. Each comment would ahave a number. Have an input box on the voting page to input the comment number. The actual comment would then be displayed as usual. Then the folks who what to comment more in detail would have more time.

First of all I'd like to thank Drew, Langdon,[why is drew usually listed first?] and "The Mod-Squad" for all of thier time & hard work. These are just my comments after reading down through the entire thread.

The problem for the modem users could be solved by a preference setting for maximum # of thumbnails on a page in the profile. Eg: 10, 20, 30, 50, 100, All. The pictures could still generate off of the same list with a filter for what picture number they were on and that would determine the page. A second checkbox could be for if the already voted pctures are on the same page or not. The pages are dynamicly generated anyway from a template. It would also help for the ammount of pictures transmitted on the occasion that people turn that feature off.

Deffinatly keep the filesize limit and have one of the dimensions be 640, 480, or 427 that will keep the pictures somewhat uniform in size. Have you seen a regular photo contest that hasn't wanted some standard sizing for prints? It levels the playing field for camera quality and photograph technique. It will also keep the filesize down for the above modem users.

As for the chat idea, while it would be fun, why not set up a forum on a chat site? That way thier bandwith and computer time is taken up doing something they are optimisied for. Maybe one of the suggesters could moderate it?

I really like the simplicity and forethought that has gone into this site. For the most part it responds quickly, everything has its rushour.

My one suggestion: I know that there was a poll for paying, can you still set up a paypal link for site donations for those who would like to contribute to the upkeep?

Also one question: Are the poll results available?

Yes, you would have to scroll to the bottom right away to read the first one. and then each post would be above the previous too. So you have to read down the post then scroll back up to the top of the one above it.
Seems to make sense to me.

I find it easier to press CTRL+F and type in my name and press ENTER a couple of times.
Its a computer, let it do the hard work.

Rowan

How about a spell checker on the comments? Since English is not the first language for many particpants, it may be helpful and clarify comments better. Just add another button to the "reply to post" textbox.

I believe that most recent post at top will be the default on the updated site, but there will also be a user-selectable options for for post order, number of replies/page, and number of threads available from the home page.

I hope that I am not to 'late' on this, however I agree with some of the request to have details posted with the subject, so that one can see an explanation of the photo.
