If you could pick ONE feature to see on the new DPChallenge, what would it be? This can be in any area... new site features, improved site features, improved site performance, site options, visualization...

details/ info on the photograph, while voting.

And the one thing I've been asking for since I started here.

On the comments page, when you are looking at what people have said about
your picture, have the small thumbnail linked to the larger view.

so you can go 'eh?' and quickly click on the bigger picture.

Also, have the 'dpchallenge' logo in the top left corner linked to
the 'my home' page - I'm used to that from other sites.

Oh. you said one thing.

Well, everything in this one post :)

I would go for 'different size' picture as well. still keeping the 150k limit though.

and in second .. if I may .. I would still like a 'skip' picture if there is a picture you do not want to vote on or if you want to scan them without voting.

Otherwise .... great job!

A voting scale like the amps in Spinal Tap.... "it goes to eleven."

Either that or a separate "darkroom challenge," in addition to the regular one(s), to which the image editing rules would not apply.

I would like a more visible 'Top of page' button on the bottom of every page...maybe even on every post of a thread so that halfway through a thread I can easily go to the top ot the page and remind myself what the thread is about, and also to quickly go somewhere else.

1 thing? Hmmm...

I would say the ability to scroll through all of the photos I've already voted on without going back to thumbs between each. So I could review all the 10's I gave and look for any that should be 9's... It'd be nice if there was a "Next" - "Previous" or the ability to change the vote and add comments.

Dimension freedom (while keeping the filesize limit) would be my single item if pressed for just one.

Please ... KEEP THE RULES ABOUT NO EDITING ....
People can always edit the shot for themselves, but I like it being a photography site and not a photoshop demo

You can use the 'home' key. :-)

If this is in response to my post, I'm not talking about doing away with the editing rules... I was thinking about a separate challenge for the benefit of those who wish to puruse more advanced Photoshop techniques.

How about either a "bookmarking" feature for the forum threads so folks can quickly pick up a thread where they last left off reading it, instead of having to scroll down (or up) to find their place. An alternative would be to let folks "hide" posts in threads FOR THEIR OWN DISPLAY ONLY to they don't have to look at the same entries over and over (unless they want to).

Scales to set my monitor by so I know we are seeing the same picture.

Information on the photograph I'm voting on.

That the voting page is split into two pages. One with pics not yet voted on and then one with the pics already voted on. I run on a modem at 28.8 and it takes forever to bring up the voting page.

i second what has already been said: keep editing rules and allow more flexible sizing.

I like this idea to use for "next" and "previous" photo.....
Sometimes I would like to think about a shot before voting on it, and go ahead and keep voting on the others.

Oh, yeah! And, since others are second'ing suggestions.. ;)... I like the option of going to a full size shot from the thumbnail on the comments page while comments are coming in.

:-)

My request:

Under "images you've rated" on the vote page, I would like to see the number of photos under each rating. That way I can quickly see if I've spread the votes well. Also maybe show my average vote.

Example:
Rated 10 (4)
Rated 9 (8)
...etc.
Avg. Score: 5.333

A way to show what you got from a voter and their average vote. A 10 from someone who averages giving out under 5 would mean more than a 10 from someone who averages giving out 8's.

Along the same lines, a list of who gave what to your photo after the challenges. Maybe clicking on the bar graph could tell you who gave you that number.... just a thought. I would prefer this to the idea mentioned above....

Unlimited voting on mine own photo (this rule should apply to me only).

I don't know if there would be much real advantage to this thought, but I agree because I think it would slow down the "Hit and Run" low voter.
