I'm sick and tired of the creativity this site requires! I hate having to shoot a new subject each week! I hate having to use my own brain power to figure out what to shoot!

I think that each week the system admins should post a picture and we should all have to copy it. Votes should be based on how closely you can copy the shot. I also think that the subject of the shot should be something not readily available to everyone. If you can't copy the shot, you can't submit! That will keep down the number of photos we have to vote on each week.

Also, we won't have to argue about interpretation of the challenge subject or about whether or not a shot meets the challenge.

I think this is an excellent idea! If this works out, next we can require that everyone use the same camera!

you also have to enter the same shot 3 weeks in a row so you have to think carefully into the future!

AND it has to be post processed using hte same, most expensive program possible, in exactly the same way.

Oh yea, and if the pic is color, it CANNOT be converted to bw, even if it would look better, and vice versa.

WEEK 1 of this new challenge:
A baby, wrapped in its national flag, holding a flower and petting a kitten!

(Disclaimor -- i really do like pics of kids, flags, flowers and animals! I have several of each if any one would like to see 'em!)

and the baby has to be wearing the crown jewels on it's head.

duh, if he is wrapped in a flag, you won't be able to see his doo-dah!

the flag has a cunningly placed hole in it. Also the photo must include a tree, a cactus, a swimming pool, a piece of moon rock, and a sculpture of some kind of ant-eater.

Sitting in the road, with a NEW apple, and an OLD flag, behind some sort of transparent thing, but not a mirror.
09/24/2002 12:43:11 PM · #12
because mirrors arent transparent

Hold it, hold it. This leaves us with way too much decision making on our hands: you didn't specify whether it should be 640x480 or 480x640.

sitting in the CURVE of a road, in front of a RED house, but it CANNOT be posed, must be candid!

Oh yeah... and if you copy it TOO well you get DQ'd for a literal representation of a work of art.

:-P

And we should change the voting scheme to binary: 0 or 1.
09/24/2002 12:52:10 PM · #20
and you have to have the lense cap on when you actually take the photo

And to avoid DQ issues, you should avoid any feature that COULD be readily duplicated in Photoshop. Hence, no lighting effects, no textures, no perspective, no blur etc, etc. Just a good solid shot of nothing.

the only PS tool you're allowed to use is the paintbrush

I could do that in Photoshop though - File -New
gives me a good, solid shot of nothing... so that option is out
too.
