I have a feeling this isn't a shot I should be sad about not being able to enter into the challenge. ;)

It is a sharp apple and it does have wicked bokeh, it's different and technically sound...there will be worse...

I was thinking of using my archery skills & doing a William Tell type theme. I just need a model to ballance the apple on their head. Any takers? Hello.....hello... Gee where did everyone go?

I would have submitted this one... would have scored this a 9 myself.

Great shot, great comp, colors, bokeh, frame, focus and everything...

But now you have to submit something else :)

The challenge description says, "Take an apple (the fruit, not a computer!) anywhere, do anything you like to it, but make the shot your own."

Technically, it does not say take a picture of an apple. It says to do something to an apple, and then make the shot your own. WEll, of course the shot has to be our own. But the description does NOT say, make the shot OF THE APPLE your own. We're simply to do something to an apple before making a shot. So it looks like an open challenge to me. ROFLMAO

"do anything you like to it"
Does this line scare the crap out of anyone else....???

Pictures Bob from the Enzyte commercial completely naked holding an apple in front of his crotch grinning as he does.

*shudder*

Something really weird just happened!. My husband and I just met up after work and started discussing the scores on our pix for "triangle" and I asked him if he'd seen the new challenge of "Apple". He said he had and had a great idea. I said that I had too and without saying what it was said I was going for a fun pic and needed something (can't say what here as would give pic away). He looked at me with horror and said he needed the thing too! Guess what? we both had decided on the identical shot!!!Out of all the places you could put an apple!! We are now deciding who gets the shot!! (Pistols at dawn?)

why not both?

Cross perspective...

One do it as a normal shot...the other bring a ladder and take the same shot from top down at some really wide angle or far telephoto angle.

Time for a divorce, or at least a trial separation.

Just kidding...

ok..just went out to take my first shots for the apple challenge...went to fridge and guess what..only one apple. hmmm...ok..one apple will work i decided. i decided to take a bite out of that apple for the photo...then two, three, four. now i have no apple! it was just too good an apple to take a chance of it getting dirty. oh well...tomorrows another day i guess and another idea in the brewing :o)

First time ever, I was actually able to get a shot in before the last hour. I love my entry but I just know I am going to get killed! I honestly don't care though, if one person "gets it" and I'll be doing the Snoopy dance. I'm so excited I can't believe I have to wait a whole week.

Maybe that's why I always wait until last minute, subconsciously I knew I'd act like a kid counting down to Christmas if I submitted early. =)

The challenge says take an apple - that's ONE apple right? Or am I being too literal?

Description: Take an apple (the fruit, not a computer!) anywhere, do anything you like to it, but make the shot your own.

I don't think you're being too literal, but some voters are likely to be. Were someone like James Nacthwey to enter an image showing angry protesters throwing many beautifully bruised apples at soldiers aiming uzis (the weapon choice here is NOT deliberate), with excellent details (including anguished, angry and emotional faces) and sharp focus, as well as some motion blur in parts, with the lighting just right -- in other words, a 10 picture by a 10 photographer -- I'm sure these voters would still score it a 1 because the image does not absolutely, narrow-mindedly and fascistically "meet the terms of the challenge."
